I don't know how the prices are today in the USA, but in Europe there are very few opportunities to acquire nice pieces.
Here's a semi-auto Mg42:

Old postcard
Here an old postcard of a Schütze with what appears to be a Mg34 with a very long cartridge belt!
I have translated the text as: "A shooter loves kisses as much as shooting his machine gun!"

Re: Original MG81 manual
I agree with you, that's why I stopped buying new pieces a long time ago and now I enjoying what little I have, althought ammo prices are climbing also ! Today I received this manual from the Verlag R. Eisenschmidt . It's not in perfect condition, but I paid a more than reasonable price (€25), altho...

These prices are insane, although nothing surprises me anymore. It's the law of supply and demand.

Re: Ammo belt I’d please MG34?
As for the markings, the "S" corresponds to Suhl's well-known firm Simson & Co, the droop wing eagle above the number 46 is the inspection/aceptance marking and the numbers may correspond to December 1930.

Re: Original MG81 manual
Hi John,
Despite the fact that it is a rare original manual, IMHO the price seems excessive. Luckily there are copies of this manual available to collectors, although the quality of the illustrations may not be comparable.
As far as I know it is a manual from 1938.

Re: Das M.G. 34 (Bild) Waffentafeln Wa32/33
I must rectify what I said in my first post, I have not found any evidence so far of the existence of a Waffentafeln about the Mg42. From what I know so far, the last addition was number 46 titled Das Kleinkaliber-Gewehr in 1942.

Re: 7,92mm or 7,62mm belt?
Thanks RetiredBuilder...a simple way to differentiate them.
I have compared the belt shown above to an original WWII belt and they have the same dimensions.

Very interesting, I did not know about the existence of this piece. I understand then that the can capacity is reduced to 250 rounds.

7,92mm or 7,62mm belt?
I found this post war MG42 50-round belt and would to know if it's for 7,92mm or 7,62mm ammo? MG1 or MG3? The links height is 36mm. It has a "church" marking on the male connecting piece. Did you seen it before? I enclose some pictures, also with a 7,92mm cartridge. 7,92lover Gurt1.JPG Gurt2.JPG Gur...

Re: MG Ammo Can Capacity: 250 or 300?
According to official German manuals... two 50-round belts linked together at the bottom and four 50-round belts linked together at the top. I enclose a picture that apears in the H.Dv.130/2a Ausbildungsvorschrift für die Infanterie of 16.3.1941. Note the fire direction ( Shußrichtung ). 7,92lover P...

Re: Das M.G. 34 (Bild) Waffentafeln Wa32/33
I have been collecting them for a long time and I have several Waffentafeln but unfortunately none of the ones you ask for. I will be attentive in case they appear. It would be great if you published a book, although it would be a huge job. I admire you for the great work you are doing, nothing easy...

Das M.G. 34 (Bild) Waffentafeln Wa32/33
Here's the cover of a highly collectible "civilian" accessory for the Mg34: Das M.G. 34 (Bild) Waffentafeln Wa32/33 , a fold-out cardboard (quadruple) booklet published by Ludwig Voggenreiter Verlag of Potsdam. This is from November 1940. There are three specific booklets for the Mg34: Wa30/31 , Wa3...
