Re: What kind of 8mm surplus ammo is this?

For the most part it is the kind you do not want to shoot in an expensive firearm.

Re: Need some input on a transferable MG42

With the DLO marking on the underside it is probably not a C&R.

Re: MG34 started misfeeding. picture.

I have seven MG34's and eight kits in the shop right now plus two TNW's in the my personal safe and NONE of them look like that. That looks horrible. Send me an email at h.connors@centurylink.net.. and I will send you some photographs of what it should look like. I suspect that it had been welded a...

Re: Lafette straps

Interesting. I looked at the pics on the site real good because....... I ordered a 42 sling from RTG and the poor quality of the hardware made me send it back. The grip side unit had the hole drilled offset so they "swirled" the drill so the pin could go thru. The pin barely made it more than half ...

ATF will be at the Show of Shows next week in Louisville if you will be attending that show.

If you want an original set try contacting Bergflak.

Re: MG08 Field Manual Find

If you really intend to sell those manuals you will probably find your sale will go much easier if you break up the set into categories for each firearm. It will be hard to find a collector who wants the manuals for all three firearms.

Re: MG08 Field Manual Find

Mainly looking for one closer to the date of the MG08 I own which is 1918. No rush, the hunt for these things is what I enjoy the most.

WWI Vickers manual is number one on the search list right now.

MG08 Field Manual Find

Picked this up over the past weekend. Always try to find original manuals to go with the guns I have. Still looking for an earlier version for this one.

MG08 or British Maxim?

Interesting WWI photo. I suspect British Maxim rather than MG08.

Re: MG-34 finally shipped

Many SOTs carry separate insurance for shipping via FedEx which could be the case with this shipper. UPS expressly forbids the shipment of machine guns in their company tariff and will not cover them against thieft or damage. I generally ship machine guns registered mail but have shipped via FedEx a...

Re: Notes on the 08 German Maxim Gun

The British command's "superior" knowledge and tactics all but killed off a generation, not something to really be all that proud of. Tactics that resulted in failure time after time only to be continually repeated. Nothing they did justified the British command structure being put in charge of US t...

Re: Notes on the 08 German Maxim Gun

Personally I would have been keen to have the US involved MUCH much sooner. and under British command. maybe just maybe the US casualties would have been less. Mark :( British command I highly doubt looking at the examples of the Somme and Gallipoli that fewer US casualties would have been the resu...

Re: Wikipedia

Having owned a C&R MG42 for many years and used M60's mainly the D model many times during my 27 years in the military I can safely say there are similarities between the two with regards to the feed system and receiver construction.

Re: Wikipedia

M60 top cover mostly. The writer of the Wikepedia article states: "The [MG42] barrel had polygonal rifling..." Has anybody every seen a WWII polygonal barrel for the MG42? I haven't. He also states that the MG42 "lent many design elements to the American M60". I don't know what they would be, and hi...
