Re: Blueing
Surface prep is essential with cold blue. If you sand blast, and heat the metal with a heat gun, you will get good results. Make sure you soak the finished product in lots of oil and let it 'cure' for a day or so.

Re: reweld done, do I need to heat treat?
Its an original German receiver, rewelded with TIG, mild SS rod.
If nobody has any input, like you suggested, I guess nobody knows. If nobody knows, then I assume nobody has done it. If nobody has done it, Id bet its not necessary......

Re: MG34 plans
Hardly seems worth the effort, my friend.
I know there are resin castings available, especially in the "Star Wars" community. (The bad guys heavy laser blasters were based on MG34's. Maybe there is something available thru one of their sites....)

Re: MG34 plans
Well Im gonna take the obvious wisevss shot here......what do you mean 'make a MG34'? From a demil receiver? Because if you are looking to just build one from scratch, you are barking up the wrong tree. Its virtually impossible without access to an entire machine shop. The reason why the Germans sto...

reweld done, do I need to heat treat?
My receiver reweld is almost done. The blueprints that I purchased have information about heat treating and hardness...my question is....Do I have to heat treat this receiver now? I dont know if it matters but this weapon will be semi only and will not be getting fired much.....maybe a few hundred r...

Re: my MG34
Javi, there is a small language barrier here. When you say 'cannon', are you referring to the 'barrel'?
Thats a good looking weapon. I hope you restore it to firing condition (if legal...)

Re: Front sight stem and flash cone catch removal
Punch 'em out. They look much more complicated than they really are. Parts are under slight pressure, so pushing down (horizontal) on them helps. Be aware, they come out MUCH easier than they go back in.....

Re: Tnw Mg34 is it worth the cost?
It would run about 50 rounds and then it would jam with single shots, I only ever blank fired it. Brian......blanks may be your problem. You will NEVER find a weapon that runs perfectly on blanks. I have fired thousands of blanks from M2's, M60's M240's, M249's, and M16's and you can always expect ...

Re: MG34 pricing?
Javi, I dont know about Spain, but here in the US, nice parts kits are all but gone. Any one of us would jump on an opportunity to own a display gun like that. I paid $750 for my parts kit and I didnt find out until after I received it that it was all pitted and rusted. The guns you are looking at a...

Re: Where to get roll pins????
NY residents: MOVE. Go somewhere RATIONAL. Send me an MG-34 pin and I'll copy it for you. Simple jobs are fun jobs I may take you up on that when I get a little closer to putting this gun all back together. Now stop telling me to move somewhere rational. I cant just pick up and move! Besides, Syrac...

Re: Where to get roll pins????
Dude, its tough up here in NY. Machine shops shy away from any small work, they downright refuse anything gun related. Gunsmiths are nonexistant (except for the guy who mounts scopes at Dicks sporting goods and Gander mountain). I had to use pennies and flattened copper pipe to back up my welding on...

Re: MG34 pricing?
Javi, its kinda tough to compare this to US prices because out demill/dewat laws are so different. A dummy gun on a dummy receiver here in the states will fetch about $1300. The ones you are looking at are on the very high end of quality, are very nicely marked and of course have the the original re...

Re: Where to get roll pins????
Make anything? Its a matter of resources. I live in an moderatly sized upstate NY city. My only options are Home Depot and Lowes for 'parts material'. That leaves me with the little bin they have called 'welding metals' (about 10 different assorted sizes of square stock) and the hardware roll out dr...

I heat to dull orange, oil bath, then heat to until the surface just turns grey. Similar methods. Can you post a pic of this home made part? I feel I may have to fabricate some of my own parts and would like to see..

The part you circled is the safety. It is assembled correctly in that picture.
