Re: PLEASE HELP!!! YUGO MG BUILD

Scott, OOPS! Looking at your photos you do not have the grip stick mount attached, after you mount it my rant may make more sense. The mounting holes and cutout seem to be done on your rear section. the grip stick mount has the locating tab for recoup as part of it. Again this is for war time...

Re: PLEASE HELP!!! YUGO MG BUILD

Morning Scott, I'll take a run at your recoup questions. It performs the same function in s/a and f/a MG42s. It must be trimmed to clear the f/a blocker bar or stud, whatever you have, also the sheet metal upright edge opposite the spring tube may need to be trimmed down to clear the s/a cocking bar...

Re: PLEASE HELP!!! YUGO MG BUILD

Scott, I second Rockers caution, DO not base the re-weld on a set of used rails! Get a set of prints and build to specific points on the receiver. "D" cut out, bolt hole for front recoup mount, cam section locators, etc. Also pay more attention to how straight/smooth the inside is, not the outside! ...

Re: flash hider differences

[diz] Guess I'll add to the confusion on the issue. Currently on E-bay is a flash hider marked 8113-19152,I think this is a Yugo part number. The base is diagonal milled, not flat. I also think post war German/Nato production will be marked with NATO fsn numbers like 1005-12-121-2253. No cast in ston...

Hi Phil,
Yes, the Germans used bakelite stocks on MG42 production. I have a WaA [diz] proofed one in a parts box. Pretty rough shape but not for sale.

Re: Center fire systems parts kit

Hi All,
If you have the grip altered to fit the AR parts, consider a Timney drop in F/C for the AR-10. Nice large pins, compact hammer shape, designed to fire the 7.62 round. No high power spring required. :eureka:

Re: Help!!! Cam and Rail Alignment Question

Hi Doug,
Considering your question on alignment,The second picture shows the rear section somewhat higher than the camming section :? .As the sections are only "tacked" it may help the alignment to re-tack the sections with the rear section somewhat lower. Hope this helps.

Re: A couple of new build questions

A question on rail rivets, are they cold formed or heated prior to forming the head? When they are used in the gun to retain the rails.Seems like hot forming might be easier and pull in tighter on cooling? Maybe over kill and not needed?

A couple of pix from my collection of stuff,WWII bakelite butt,it's WaA 11 marked on front where it mounts to buffer. The inside has these markings, 12164 in an oval, a, ehe, and makers mark that looks like a stylized M with T2 in one side.
