Re: Found: 1909 MG08 Spandau and a 1916 sled mount

I'll bring some nice pieces of wood to Knob Creek with me. I have a pallet shop as a computer customer that makes a lot of red oak pallets, and they give me the end scraps to burn in my wood stove. A lot of times they're 2 - 3" square, but only about a foot or two (at most) long. That would be perf...

Re: Found: 1909 MG08 Spandau and a 1916 sled mount

There's nothing like the putt-putt-putt of a Maxim gun, and the WWI sleds beat the crap out of the later 1919A4 tripod. Are you going to polish this beast and reblue? A nice deep shine would really make your steamer gun grab some attention. A little time with some oak and a lathe would sure make a ...

I know this is an old thread but thought I would post a picture and bring this up again.
Here is mine, it was recently converted to semi auto by Dennis of Midwest Metal Creations. Runs like a champ.

Semi auto MG08 Spandau and a 1916 sled mount

Well here it is guys, my semi-auto MG08 Spandau Maxim on the sled mount. I still need to refinish the new side plate but it is functional and working again. The water jacket still wears its original camouflage paint as does the sled now with it's hand painted III Machine Gun Corp markings. I have th...

Try Greg at Allegheny Arsenal, I think I saw he had one at the Knob Creek show in his case on the table. Jbaum would know.

WTB MG08 Sled tools

I am looking for the tongs and the chamber cleaning tool for the German 08 sled mount. If you have any (original or reproductions) for sale please let me know as well as what you are asking for them. Here is a picture of the tools I am looking for: Thank-you, CaptMax captmax@att.net http://i713.phot...

Re: MG34&MG42 books for sale

I must say I had the pleasure of meeting Folke at the Knob Creek show last year through my friend Walter. Folke was kind enough to sign my book and personalize it. Always a pleasure seeing you at the show Folke and enjoy listening to your vast knowledge on the German MG's.

Here is a recent picture of my sled mount, I'm almost done with it. The Mg08 that is mounted is a second parts kit that I just sold yesterday. Can hardly wait to get my Spandau gun back from Midwest Metals this fall.

Re: Found: 1909 MG08 Spandau and a 1916 sled mount

That is a fantastic 08 "CaptMax" :wnana: Be sure to talk with Dennis about the process, he has not worked out all the bugs with the semiauto 08's/Type 24's YET, but he is very close. Last I knew he was still trying to get the best design for the trigger bar replacement since the 1910 bottom-protrud...

Re: Found: 1909 MG08 Spandau and a 1916 sled mount

Great find. The Maxim's have always interested me, given their history. Please post some pictures of the completed project. I didn't know Maxim's could be modified to semi only. Are there other Maxim owners out there with semi versions? Where are the pictures? Come on guys, tease us a little! Here ...

Re: Found: 1909 MG08 Spandau and a 1916 sled mount

Glad to see someone paying attention Harry, Thanks for the reply. Yes you are correct that these are testing the strength of us older guys but it is always easy enough to find some young whipper snapper willing to move the stuff if you promise them a chance to shoot. What better way to get them intr...

Found: 1909 MG08 Spandau and a 1916 sled mount

Scored a really nice sled mount and 1909 Spandau MG08 parts kit from a friend. I am going to have Dennis from Midwest Metals turn it into a functional semi for me this summer. I have been stripping the gold paint off the sled and uncovered some interesting markings that I hope to be able to research...

FOUND - Bakelite butt stock with metal tips

Just wanted to post a couple pictures of the butt stock I recently received from a friend. He found it while browsing the Knob Creek show after I had to leave early and unexpectedly. Sure is nice having friends who are so kind and look out for you. Thinking about having the metal tips re-silv...

Old post or not I had to comment. Nothing but the up most respect for John and his work.
I have several of his manuals and enjoy our conversations at the Knob Creek MG shoot.
He offers a great service for all of us collectors and shooters.

Re: WTB: New old stock MG34 bolt

I've got a couple NOS un-numbered MG34 bolts as well as a couple NOS un-numbered MP44 bolts. They are out there. I'm not interested in selling. I'm glad I bought my extra MP44 bolts when they were reasonable, crazy what the prices are today. No, I'm not interested in selling any more either...

Re: WTB: New old stock MG34 bolt

I have several nice MG34 bolts but they are not NOS. Good luck with finding that. Only place I found any at the Creek was on Ohio Ordnance table and none of them were complete. Bob Landies did have one shipped overnight to me there, cost was $200 for that one but it was good and the rollers were per...

Re: WTB: C&R MP44

How much are you looking to spend? Are you looking for an all blued or a mixed finish? There was a beautiful one that sold for $18k on Sturmgewehr awhile back, only lasted about 24 hours before it sold. It was a really nice one though. I have had several offers on mine in the last year but I am just...
