Re: Cartridge link tension

Thanks DA for the info. It was helpful. I'll post pictures when the project is done. All things given, the MG's including the 34 and 42 can be mechanically perfect and dependable but if the gunner has an out of 'tensioned' belt and the bolt cannot strip the round or the round prematurely wobbles out...

Cartridge link tension

Well, once again I've come up with a subject that I'm not sure if its ever been discussed...so here goes... Has anyone ever come up with a method of checking the tension on each individual link of the belt prior to inserting each 8mm cartridge ? Each belt that I receive, I've had to occasionally spr...

Michael, I would'nt put this off till next year if you can afford it any time soon. At $115.00 complete, this is a good deal and may not be around this time next year.

MG34 carrying handle retention key

Was noticing on Gunbroker that someone had an MG34 carrying handle for sale. What got my attention was the small dovetail retention key that came with it. I know the discussion...did the Germans have and use a carrying handle during WWll...or was this a post WWll made item. This was well dis...

Re: TNW MG-34

I purchased the TNW MG34 in June/July 2008 and am well pleased with the craftsmanship, appearance, and firing performance. Trigger pull was a bit on the heavy side though. Should you purchase an SA MG34, whether from Marstar or TNW, be sure you measure the diameter of the hole in the recoil booster ...

I agree Artie...I've been ordering from BRP for awhile now and have never had any item that was in bad shape. BRP must have good contacts...seems as though they can come up with generally what your needing or wanting...

Re: Color restoration of the bakelite stock

Thanks for the tips and advice. :D I almost feel ashamed/embarrassed  that I tried to make the color more consistent using black shoe polish...which didn't come out half-bad. Kinda like 'spit shining' your boots...

Color restoration of the bakelite stock

Was recently cleaning the bakelite stock on my Mg34 with mineral spirtits...and after drying, the stock came out black with whitish color blotches...seems as though the spirits removed some of the black-brown color for white. I had ordered a spare replacement stock and it came drenched in cosmoline ...

Re: Check your MG34 "booster cone" ...a possible warni

The MG34 booster cone was originally made of steel and not stainless steel as used during WWll. Any cone made of SS is of a post war manufacture...which incidentally is not a bad idea.
