Re: CLEO signoff a thing of the past?

The only purpose registration serves is to facilitate confiscation! This is another good step to resecuring our RKBA. Remember, the laws requiring registration were put in place to STOP the American People from buying firearms. In fact, when the tax stamp law was originally passed, the US government...

Very nice addition you got there. I love those wooden stocks. Be sure to clean it up and put some Duracoat on her to make her look even better!

Re: new guy needs help

Okay, this doesn't look too bad. Keep in mind, what I am about to suggest, I would call the poor man's way of putting it together. I would suggest that you are going to need to buy a set of rails if you don't have a set already. I would get it from http://www.robertrtg.com/mg.html. I would start by ...

Wow! Leave it to DA to start a new wedding tradition :) Instead of exchanging wedding rings, they load 8mm ammo belts together, wear the belts during the reception, and then hang them over the door during the honeymoon!

Just teasing DA! Congrats and best wishes to you and your fiance.

Could you please post some pics of what you are trying to weld? I might be able to give some pointers.

Thanks in advance!

Very cool! Where is the museum? Can anybody look at it close up? How do you get permission to inspect it?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Panzer calipers?

I'm guessing it may have come from a German mobile shop truck. An article from the October 1943 issue of Ordnance Digest, published monthly by the Ordnance Department of the U.S. Army, describes the German mobile shop trucks and how certain features of these units compare with similar ones in use by...

Re: yugo ammo fix?

I'm not sure you will be able to. If your getting good strikes on the primer, you have a bad primer. My understanding is the Yugo ammo is 1960's era ammo, so it is old. I haven't had a primer malfunction in my Yugo ammo, but I have noticed a difference in the charge from round to round which tells m...

Re: receiver I got from Allegheny today

If you pait it black using Duracoat, I suspect (only a guess) whatever materiel you use will look uniform in appearance. The kit I have says it can be used on other materiel than steel like wood and PVC.

As I may have said before, I work for the Army Test and Evaluation Command. We own the Army Test Centers. I could check on the policy of using a military test center for civilian use. Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona is fairly centrally located and has lots of space. YPG is also known for having the c...

Thanks guys! So $150 for the receiver wouldn't be considered a bad deal? I will have to think it over though because the comments have made me a little nervous.

Thanks again for the replies!

Thanks to all for the replies! As an aside, my health has deteriorated to where I really cannot work anymore and I have put in for early retirement. If it is approved, I will have free time and would love to be involved with the actual firing that has been discussed. In any case, I'd love to see thi...

Thanks guys! I didn't feel comfortable doing it and decided to ask the "smart folks" how to do it right. Yes, I'm a noob! In any case, I would rather look stupid asking a question than cause undue harm to anyone or anything because of my stupidity. I can't express my thanks enough to you folks who a...

Re: Can any MG42 parts be imported?

MARSTAR is in Canada if I recall. Canada has some very weird rules about what is exportable. Yes, barrels are now a problem. As I learned, receivers are a problem as well. Plenty of stuff still here in the USA. I would suggest you check gunbroker but be carefull who you trade with. Check their ratin...
