Awesome! Can you show what holds it in place!
I could sure use that at the range. I wonder if I could hitch it to the back of my truck!
So where did you find it and how much is it worth?

Re: New book: German rifle grenades and launchers of WW1+2
You know... to me... if you could put the text into google translate by page, that would be plenty! I can make out what is being said well enough. I have thought these books even with a very rough translation would really make it worth buying. I can flip between the basic text and the real book. For...

Re: MG08/15 Heuschrecke "Grasshopper" Lafette Mount Thread
Very Interesting Lafettes. Thanks for sharing the photos. First came the Madison tripod (Lafette) then ? This you said was dated 1937. Are there any dated before that?? I just picked up a basket case 1936 MG34 Lafette to rebuild and restore. Anyone got any space Lafette parts?? pm me if you do, ple...

Re: MG08/15 Heuschrecke "Grasshopper" Lafette Mount Thread
A 2nd MG08/15 Lafette has been found in Europe! This one is not the one in Folke's Book! Its in the Festungsmuseum Reuenthal, Switzerland. I am very excited to see this as this is one of the Holy Grails of my collecting. Also note that is has the AA extension arm. I wonder how many more are out ther...

I do love the fact we are all taught history from differing perspectives. I am also glad the moderator has not bumped us off. Its all talk among friends and has kept nice... so I don't think they should. Maybe a little OT.... but... as long as the OP does not care... It is however a proven fact tha...

Re: Notes on the 08 German Maxim Gun
The British command's "superior" knowledge and tactics all but killed off a generation, not something to really be all that proud of. Tactics that resulted in failure time after time only to be continually repeated. Nothing they did justified the British command structure being put in charge of US ...

Re: Notes on the 08 German Maxim Gun
Personally I would have been keen to have the US involved MUCH much sooner. Yeah but the question for us would have been which side to join? Going by our history we found two wars against the British, one about a 100 years before where they came and burned our capital and tried to burn my city. Luc...

Well I have to admit to being a little disappointed in the front bipod attachment. After years of searching, I don't really like it that much! I was really hoping it would cut down on the rocking. However all it...

Re: Anything historically accurate about IMA's large Shield?
Not sure but it looks nothing like my original shield which is the style seen in a lot of the photos. That said there were several types that are pictured side by side in a period photo in the paintbrush. Yeah its nothing close to the one you have. However I do see one picture in TDPB that seems to...

Re: rather early MG08?
No I hadn't forgotten about the "a" I just didn't realize that prefixed numbers started with the second 10.000 guns rather than from the first gun produced. I have not had any dealings with Spandau guns so have not studied the numbering system in depth. Thanks for your input Matt, much appreciated....

Re: rather early MG08?
Knowing that DWM usually did not use the "a" in its serial numbers, my guess is that its a Spandau made gun. That would put 733a or 10733 as a 1916 gun. So not really that early. It also just so happens that if it was a DWM gun it would also fall in the 1916 range. http://maximmachinegun.com/ My gue...

Anything historically accurate about IMA's large Shield?
Just got one of these in and tried it on my Sled. It did not work at all with the traditional small sled armor shield. I would say it could be fitted to a Sled with no armor shield. Anyway I was wondering is there any historically accurate about this shield. Did the Germans ever use a shield that lo...

Nice setup! Actually looks in good condition as these Chinese guns took a lot of abuse. Is it in 7.62 or 8mm?alpencorps wrote:found a nice example,

Re: Another MG08 accessory to ponder.
Repainted and missing the eye cup.
A few years ago this was work a few Hundred at best. Today these seem to get crazy prices at times. However I would not put a large value on it.
Also, what makes you say interwar? Does it not have a "K" marked on the back bottom above the dovetail?

Re: Erb MG08 Price Check?
I don't believe Jmann would do me that way, he is one of the ones that got me interested in Maxims. I was estimating between $14-15 on it so I guess I was in the ballpark. No I was not suggesting Jmann would buy it out from under you. I was saying that he has been looking for a gun that he can pull...
