I have a whole lot of steel-cased, copper-plated-steel-bullet WW2 German 8mm MG ammo, so it's not something particular to those as-such, but likely something in the details of the Tula .308. It does work well in a 1919.

The LSP is the "machinegun" on a Maxim, right? The only way to get this particular gun legally is you can buy everything but that plate, which would have to be removed and destroyed (and until then the gun without papers is illegal) before you have any sort of possession. The biggest issue is the broach channels down the length of the 34 receiver. The Phil Ord 80% does not have those. If you can get creative enough to cut them (broach, EDM, shaper, etc), then the rest should be relatively easy.

If (and it's a huge IF), another ban is like the last one, then you would be best off if you had some sort of proof you had the firearm in it's "evil" configuration prior to the ban. Witnesses, Photos, etc , whatever is better than nothing.

It's quite a trick to puzzle-fit all the pieces in. I had the same problem and with a bunch of googling, found a picture of how it all goes, but I've long since forgotten where that was. I think it's also in the books. If none of those help, I can dig mine out and photograph it.

If you go with replaceable barrels, make sure a real one can't be swapped in. Welding the breech shut won't help if somebody can just drop a live one in.
