Re: My Project

unless a firing pin on any gun (centrefire) is more than around 0.055" protrusion it cant 'pierce' a primer, it simply is just not long enough, I hear the term pierced primer used way too much in the complete wrong text, unless the firing pin protrusion is excessive I call BS on anyone claiming pier...

Re: My Project

Its NOT protrusion, its not piercing primers, your making it worse by shortening it, what your getting is primer blow out due to the firing pin tip not staying in the primer to support the thinned metal during the high pressure phase, if its a hammer fired gun, increase the hammer spring weight, red...

Re: Need-Rail alingment fixture jig1-

Richard, if that was the case of just use an 8mm laser bore sight in the barrel. all I'm saying is in a perfect world the bolt should track in the same line as the bore, therefore if the centre rod of the rail alignment tool had the capability of simply using a laser through it, you could use it as ...

Re: Need-Rail alingment fixture jig1-

Mmmm just thinking about this, it would be good to use say an old 223 barrel turned down as the centre rod, leaving the chamber in the rear, with a laser bore scope alignment chamber insert in the chamber and an adaptor at the booster end of the receiver with a small hole in the centre, once the las...

Re: Phil Ordance 80% question

Hey RR, all is well thanks, the Cuda is taking up most of my time right now, between that and way to much work travel I've had little time for gun work sadly! just a few notes on the Philly rec, the one I have is all I can refer to, they drill a large hole in from each end, front and back, this hole...

Re: Phil Ordance 80% question

Wire cutting on a Philly 80% done, job worked out very well, had a tool and die company do it for me, while they were at it they also machined the pocket in front for the cams. I handed it over with a section of an origianal for mesurements etc, got it back in a couple of days, VERY good finish, no ...

degree markings on 34 rec

Team, has anyone seen markings like a +3* ( indicating +3 degree's) or +4* on the side, front and back of a 34 reciever at all??? I have one with such, cant post pics right now due to computer issues. Interestingly it has no serial number either, has an eagle stamp on it, finish and machine marks ma...

Re: Phil Ordance 80% question

You can have a Philli 80% made work, its spendy. it can be machined with a Milling machine but you have to make lots of passes with specially made cutters growing in size almost every pass, its painfull but can be done, or, you can wire cut it if you can find someone with a large enough cutter or ED...

with a 4mm threaded bolt, screw it into the pin and simply pull it straight out, after the retainer cross pin is driven out, it runs front to back

Re: M1A

Hi RR, Do your rings lean over a little on that base?, every SA mount I've had is slightly to large meaning the flat underside of the ring doesn't sit parallel to the top of the mount base, including the Mk4, PRW and QRW rings from Leupold and all others. I'm a master distributor for SA and refuse t...

Springfield's is not pic rail and are ordinary, definitely use a steel mount, try ARMS or SADLAK or SEI.

Re: barrel extensions

If the barrel is a scraper, eith put it in a lathe and machine off the collar that is up against the barrel ext to relieve the crush or run a hacksaw blade around it leaving like a 1/16th piece so as not to damage the extension, once one or the other above is done, it will unscrew easily. That way y...

Re: Pierced primers and light strikes?

MT, your light strikes will more than likely be the pieces of primer that have blown up past your firing pin when you suffered 'pierced' primers, we see this alot in bolt guns with hot loads once you blow a couple of primers the pieces of primer that have blown back through your firing pin hole star...
