I'm having a hard time visualizing this. The front leg can still be extended out and drawn in to add consioderable elevation. What part of the Lafette will hit the legs?

The box is an original wartime german box. The box has been converted, postwar, to take a newer style battery. It's hard to tell if the paint is original or not.

For some odd reason, it bugs me that the rear legs are not swung forward into their holders.

Think it would be nice if the board members who attend FIG each year meet up. PErhaps visit each others barracks and have a beer. Of course if you don't drink I Wouldn't want to meet you :) (Just joking).

Just to add a few words of wisdom. If you ever plan to repaint your Lafette (s), remember not to overdo it where the T&E is concerned. It will bind up. Just don't ask me how I know this....the information may be incriminating.

Getting back on topic. The contents did change over the years...slightly. You should have a few more muzzle caps and perhaps a spare bolt extractor and spring. I keep these wrapped in a muzzle bag.

Before you go off on a box joint excursion. The box shown is modeled after the MG34 transit chests that you occasionally find floating around the marketplace. They do not have box end joints. By adding box end joints you will advertently be making it less original than the other boxes. .2 cents

It is revealing to me that I can find this information in a very few minutes, and yet some other FNG (friendly new guy) has a ...
