Re: what grips, and firing pin setup to use?

12thWaffenSS I was in Ga at my son's thinking about the same thing. I have to say that I think it would be cool to do. 8mm deer, why yes, think of the number of hunters that have used mausers to deer hunt with. Thinking about it for next year if I can get one built and (important part) get good with...

Re: I got a few MG42 questions I can't remember the answer to...

Great Questions... I also look forward to the answers.. My thoughts (not sure) but 1. I thought that the feed pawl's were the same on the .308 and 8mm 2. On the mg42 vs Yugo.. I believe that the bottom edge has a different angle and the top rib is smaller on the German mg42 ones... As far as .308 vs...

I know that the book "Backbone of the Wehmacht - the German K98 Rifle" book has more listings and photo's of different marks. Re: dimensions needed

NICE Drawing work! So nice I hijacked it and added some take off numbers from a yugo. Now reposting Michael J's nice work... If you are thinking about making these supports, think about making the raised areas larger than shown. This will give you a larger target area and (DOUBLE CHECK) I don't beli...

Re: M53 .308 (it works)

Well at this point in time you have one that works in .308.. Me, I'm still looking at a pile of parts that I hope to build someday into something that works..
Also you have parts that might help you to get one going in 8mm at a later date.

Wish I had a working one. Enjoy LIFE....

Re: M53 .308 (it works)

I'm working on something to help with the German parts. I posted a list of Yugo parts numbers on this site. The main part is that you look for number on the parts under the top cover. With a big crest on the cover yours is probility Yugo. If the parts have numbers like (from my post) Top Cover unit ...

Re: M53 .308 (it works)

Great, glad that it's working for you now.
At some time double check the parts that you removed... It has been stated by others here that a mix of German and Yugo parts can cause problems..

Have fun with the mg

Sorry forgot one Length of raised rivit area for barrel gate.. Back to start raised area 2.888 in. Back to front raised area 3.604 in. Therefore front raised area is .716 in. Had to do it that way as barrel gate door is in the way to take a direct measurement. Good Luck Later 42rocker

M-53 Parts number ID list

Yugo parts id numbers. These parts numbers may be stocking numbers or numbers that refer to parts drawings simlar to 1919 numbers. At the end of these list are parts names that could have received numbers and due to my small sample group I don't have any with numbers. Also on a couple of the parts I...

Hope that all had a nice Veteran's Day.. Thanks Vets!!!! Dug thru the stuff and it seems looking at jbaum's pic's that I have the post war type.. The buttstock has the large flat area for the screw/bolt.. Interesting in that it only fits to a German buffer and has a "normal" screw/bolt head on the e...
