Re: MG42 Value

Don't get me wrong, I love Apex, they are a great group of guys. Customer service is a model that could well be copied by many companies. You buy from Apex, you get what you ordered, probably better. If there's a problem, they make it right ASAP. That Apex can charge more than stuff sells for on GB ...

Re: MG42 Value

Richard (Apex) of course is right. For example, I don't want a live gun on my 34 Lafette, which is openly displayed, so a dummy fits the bill. Also, the default is Ebay, which is typically higher priced. Furthermore, the uninitiated and busy don't have time or knowledge to dig for stuff. There are s...

Re: MG42 Value

IMA is the easy button. Generally trusted and takes credit cards. Like Apex. You can’t sell anything on GB for what Apex sells for. And I don’t mean asks, I mean sells. People will pay a lot more for easy. Semi MG42 on GB usually sell just shy of $4000. Semi mg34 about $3600. Go do a search on GB co...

Mg34 recuperator pin location

Good day sirs!

What is the distance of the recuperator retaining pin hole from somewhere measurable?

It’s not in Schematics from GF and I don’t have an original to measure. I can guess pretty close but would like factory measurements

Thanks

Re: Mg34 Wartime Finish

I believe all wartime 34 were blued Many 42 were finished with a clear phosphate of dubious value. Update...found an older post that stated these llight grey finish guns are not some sort of clear phosphate but in fact had been sand blasted then coated with a clear preservative awaitng a refinish t...

The problem with the mg34 receiver is that you can’t use a dremel you have to learn to use a file. Patiently.

Re: Bolt will not fit

Note to restorers: when torch cut it is very common for receivers to warp. Also to be “sprung” meaning taking a shape due to metal memory. Make sure your bolt slides through each cut section BEFORE you reweld. Then of course you can also have warp during the reweld too. But start and check even befo...

Re: MG42/53 Markings

I'm reviving this old thread, and bringing it back on track. The topic is primarily Yugoslav markings as indication of whether a part is German MG42 or Yugo M53 SARAC. Having handled a number of MG42 and M53 kits, including excellent condition complete (including receiver parts) kits, matching numbe...

Re: WTB Mg34 Feed Tray.

If you are patient you can prolly get one off eBay for $250 plus shipping. I’d need closer to $400 for one of my spares. I have some that were or are rust covered and pitted. Would be functional if cleaned up with belt sander. I can do $150 on one of those. Will make trades for stock cup or top cove...

It’s too bad he disappeared they are great prints. Only complaint is no drawing for positioning the cam. I tried to track him down without success. I wouldn’t sell my set for $300 and even then I’d have to think twice.

IIRC Bergflak says they are post war.

You yourself used the word faked so the question is how to prove it’s original.

And how do we know the wartime buckle wasn’t reused for a web sling?
