Re: Deactivated M53/MG3
There are 2 specs on deactivation, Old spec is anything done before October 1995 and New spec which is everything after then. An old spec revolver would have the chambers over bored, hammer filed down and the barrel over bored and welded up. New spec is similar but the chambers are blocked up, as w...

Re: WTB: Steel MG 8mm ammo cans marked SA
Hi Reb:
Well....I'll have to replace it with another WWII can. If I can find one, then it will cost you whatever it costs me to buy the replacement. How's that?
Anybody got any ideas for a seller????
Thanks,
MikeD

Re: Deactivated M53/MG3
Just out of idle curiosity....what do they do to deactivate a Webley .45 revolver? I can see that they probably cut off the hammer nose, but anything else?
My first handgun was a Webley Mk6, when you could get them for $29.95
Thanks,
MikeD

Sherwin Williams will mix them for you, if you've got something to match. I've done that.

Hi Jens:
Here's the thread....viewtopic.php?f=24&t=7076
It explains that there were no "issue" boxes, but there are a few ideas on how they should look.

Re: Can someone verify a mesurment for me - please?
I went out and re-measured the part I used for the drawing. It is original, uncut between the two points you are looking for. I came up with 1.1", or more likely 28 millimeters, from the back edge of the cam piece "window" and the center of the recouperator bolt hole. I hope this picture helps. Mik...

Nice looking TC....at some point, I'll have to re-paint my MG3 "pod" to at least be the "right" color, if not the right shape

Re: Help identify K98 markings
Thanks, boys, for the restoration info. Here's a couple receiver shots of my Russian Capture '98. The barreled receiver was built by "Berlin-Lubecker" in 1940. It's serial #2470, in whichever series the cursive letter below it is (it looks like a "c" to me, but I'm not up on my cursive German ...

Bmwr12… I’m not real familiar with these as to the mounts and such that you asked about. I was planning on getting a post war MG3 tripod for it, so I’ll post a pic of the mounts and perhaps you kind folks can tell me if these are the correct mounts for tripod use. Hi Alder: The M53 will fit b...

He told me he wouldn't sell those to the USA though...? That sucks. You wouldn't think a mount would be restrictive. Says in the T's & C's... "For shipping to the US please contact us for shipping rates. On some items there are export restrictions which will not allow us to ship outside the Europea...

Re: Weld Questions On My Receiver
The lower left corner of the receiver is the only square part that's easy to work off of. I've notched a piece of hardware store aluminum angle to clear the bumps that are there, and after I learn to use my Harbor Freight TIG welder, that will be part of my line up for welding. Thanks, Pirate for "T...

Tripod sale
Guys:
Inter-Ord has a sale on AA Tripods and M-3 "lafetts" until Tuesday (11/27) at midnight. I've got one of each, and they both fit the MG42/M53. The prices are good. The flyer is at:
