Need info on bipod varients

Hello everyone, Most everyone has seen the MG-42 bipods with the fluted adjustment screw for the bipod width underneath. Below are two bipods I have. THe first is from a parts kit from IO from 1944. You can see that the first bipod has a knurled adjustment screw and the rougher, uglier 1944 bipod wa...

I'm in the process of procuring a WWII lafette and optics from one of the other members on this site. That will take a while since it required refirbishing. After that, I may be looking to sell my postwar MG-3 tripod with Hensoldt optics, light, and battery case. I used it occasionally, using the op...

Oh, the site's banner should definitely stay. No debate there. After what M1 Tanker said about the Century Sporter guns, the SA-42 designation makes a lot more sense to me.

Take it to the extreme. Build a lafette mount for that thing and mount the scope on the lafette complete with azimuth and altitude adjustments. That's good for a few more Ha-Ha's.

Northridge has cut barrels with an intact locking piece. They are like 39.00. We may see them cheaper and then again we may not. Personaly I pick up a few if I was short on them. I would then try to get a group buy of stainless steel CNC turned ER Shaw short chambered barrels going. Might be fun! I...

As long as we are talking about how terminology affect the impression the reader gets, the impression I initially got of the term "SA42 Sporter" was different than you fellows had. The "sporter" term reminded me of the shorter length barreled versions of the Cetme and G3 clone rifles assembled (with...

Cool; idea just came to mind. I could set up a camera behind a steel shield that views the targets from 10' away, so we could get some camera shots of the beaten zone up close. That would be cool...

I like the watermelon idea. Let me see if I can arrange to get a video of a row of watermelons getting chopped to pieces with my MG-42 some time this coming summer. I have a vid up that shows the MG being shot at multiple (3) targets with 50 rounds, but at a range of 70 yards, you cannot r...

There are more videos on my website. Sorry the server is so slow, but all I can afford is 256k DSL with the website on a home server. At least it works, and the stuff there is cool.

A bit more info on C and R MG's... You do not need a C and R license to own a C and R gun unless the State you live in requires it. Here in Minnesota, you can own any C and R gun without any license. Curio and Relic machineguns are those that were registered prior (or during) 1968, and thus they are...

How many C&R MG-42's in USA?

Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone has any idea how many Curio and Relic MG-42's are registered in the United States. I own one, and with the price of such a gun now around $40,000, I was wondering just how rare it really is in raw numbers. It seems darn expensive to me. Anyone even have an estimate...

Yugo seems to work. Avoid Turk ammo though. I have had good luck with 1970's Romanian 8mm.

my MG-42 Website

Thought you guys might want to browse some great movies & pics. Here's my website (the MG-42 part. check out the rest of it if you like ancient history). I also make 1st century Roman, 15th century German and 16th century arms and armour for fun, and am the proud builder of a real working 2nd centur...
