Re: New guy, new to MG's
I've personally seen two examples of OOB fire with 42s. the barrel door always bulges out (by design I'm convinced) and is easy to whack back with a rubber mallet. The solution is a two piece firing pin using the standard front pin and a rear pin with a collar (that rides against the back of the str...

Re: Congressional candidate under fire for being a re-enacto
If you are going to Re-enact then why does it have to be an SS? Why not just Wehrmacht soldat? I brought that to attention here before on this forum and got my posts erased some even called me a Nazi. Your saying if your going to be the bad guy, be the politically correct most lovable bad guy you c...

Re: Light Firing pin strikes
your grip might sit differently on your receiver than whatever receiver pirate used. you'll need a sight window cut into the top of your bolt extension to check for yourself that the pin length is just right for your combo. You want to lighten your firing pin to increase the velocity and energy tran...

I think we need a picture of her (preferably in a bikini) standing next to an upright mg42 for a height comparison the guys here can relate to .

Re: Firing pin question
light strikes can be from too long of a pin as well.
the front of the rear piece is the best place to adj. the over-all length.
rear pin stick-out is fixed by hammer alignment.
your hammer needs to be 90' vertical or slightly past to transfer the energy along the pin length.

Re: MG42 cocking handle
The only solution is for you to stop being a cheap-a$$ and buy a C&R MG42 that fires from an open bolt and does not use some gimmicky semi-auto adapted bastardization design. I'm not sure SVT40 will be able to see the sarcasm in your post , gotta admit I'm having a hard time "seeing it" but i want ...

I believe its the pin the hammer rotates on that breaks most often on these designs not the firing pins.

Re: .308 Steel Case Wolf in MG3 mod M53 SA
slightly underpowered, slightly dirty. I've run a bunch through, after i had the bugs worked out with the south African surplus i bought way back in the day cheap. Miss those days. If you know the guns running the wolf shouldn't be a problem. try a small run around 60 rds to see if its good enough f...

Re: The Recuperator
Thats actually a great question. The bottom of the recup rests against the buffer tab as well as the tube that holds the springs. Wiselite must of found a way to support the 42 style recuperator so, if you have the clearance for the tail of the MG3 style recup the mounting should be the same. Maybe ...

Re: Help -MG3 Top Cover on M53 SA and Retract. Handle
Need help/ suggestions. 1) M53 SA requires feed channel to be all the way over to the left when shutting cover so channel will align with bolt when in battery. The MG3 cover has a spring that keeps the channel pushed to the right, so wont line up with bolt shut. Needing one hand to hold belt still ...

switch to .308 for testing, the available ammo is better than the 50 yr old 8mm.
your firing pin is it two piece? using the original FP up front? maybe replace that part. I've seen a lot that were heavily rounded.

Same basic gun, true. but not all parts interchange, and theres a higher perceived value to the (Immoral) German guns.
