I believe all wartime 34 were blued
Many 42 were finished with a clear phosphate of dubious value.

Re: Semi automatic and full automatic in one receiver?
Salt6 lives! Welcome home, friend. Conversely to the above possibility, it could have been a registered machine gun, and the guy made a semi auto kit that works in the MG receiver. It's perfectly legal to do that, just not the other way around. Yes, and no. Yes, one can use semi parts in a register...

I have two copies of HDv 241, one to read in bed, the other to get filthy while working on projects. I highly recommend that volume.

Would they be more accurate if I took the whole twin mount?

Re: Paint codes
Do you mean the WW2 colors or post war? You'll find paint codes for WW2 dunkelgelb which is total rubbish because the actual paint varied so much. Do a search on WW2 ordnance (ebay or GB) and compare shades- it isn't all in the lighting. I have been searching for post-war green to touch up a MG42 tw...

Where are you located?
The early MG34 trigger assembly is unique. It allows users to select between single-fire and automatic fire.
I don't have one to show you.

Re: New Run of MG74 Profile Barrels?
Ravenna Armory makes them from chrome lined Izzy 1919a4 barrels, complete and blued for under $300.

Thanks. Took a bunch of photos last week with the hope of doing a book on the Lafette reassembly.

Re: mg34 trigger actuator lafette
Here is what the mechanism set looks like. Do NOT remove the levered assembly from the rails; this is the same assembly for both Lafette 34 and Lafette 42.

Re: Bolt will not fit
If rails are .01 thicker each that’s .02 which can be a lot. Filing isn’t very accurate. Make sure they aren’t bowed too. A twist to the rewear will also cause binding. Coat the bolt and carrier in dychem to see where the wear is. The 42 is far more forgiving than the 34. That receiver takes hours o...

Looks to me like original finish was phosphate not blue. Every city has a company that can phosphate.

Re: mg34 trigger actuator lafette
The trigger actuating mechanism is mostly in the rails. It is the same for MG34 and MG42 Lafette.
The late Lafette 34 trigger assembly is very much like the Lafette 42.
I recently installed a Lafette 42 trigger assembly into a Lefette 34 sled and it fits perfectly.

Interesting. As far as i can read blueprints this info is NOT in the J&G/ Farquist prints.
Would it not be in the TNW semi package?

Re: Semi Build Help
BRP makes a great product but if yours is pretty much done stick with it. To avoid warp fill the gap with metal building up from one or both edges but not welding them together until you are only filling a small gap. Fixture it so it can’t warp. It’s all in the process and a good welder will know th...

The Norwegian Lafette wrench I had for sale was not picked up at Knob Creek. It is still for sale at $75, US first class postage is included. Both times I approached you you were burried in coversation and once the show got rolling I was so busy I couldn’t get away the tables! Sorry about that! The...

I got back from there Sunday night. They shoot twice a year, in April and October. There is also a gun show, and machine gun rentals are available so that people who do not own a machine gun can shoot. I talked with a few Germans, Canadians, and Norwegians there this time. Sometimes, a bus load of ...

Looking over some MG34 barrels I thought it would be interesting to track some of the markings and history. Re: Check your MG34 "booster cone" ...a possible warni
There are at least four cone sizes from 9.5 to 11.5. Not withstanding the evidence that the 9.5 was to specific ammo, that multiple sizes exist may be indicative that the cones could be used to tune for conditions. For example a gun heavily used in running battle (eg Kursk) could have been made to r...
