Re: Red 9 broomhandle

Hi, Yes the grips are re-pop,and took a LOT of fitting to get close to acceptable. The gun came with some hand made buffalo horn or something grips, real winners! The bbl.was rebored to 9mm,not replaced.A place on the East coast did the work,Oyster Bay? An interesting foot note,as arrived the bolt was...

Re: Receiver difs

Morning All, Well guess I will toss out a thought on the holes. As I have only a chopped off dfb MU date to look at,and no others,do the later production German receivers seem to have the square holes and the early have slots? Possibly as designed, it had a slot and as the war progressed the hole was...

Re: My MG42 on its Lafette with accessories.

mkV, My rear rec.bit is marked as yours,no mg 42 designation, serial# 6032h,mu date, dfb production.Of note is the different subcontractor codes on the mu dfb receivers, arz and rea, mine is rea also. My thought is, somewhere between"e" and "h" block the mg42 designation was dropped as a time saver or t...

Re: Weld Questions On My Receiver

Concerning use of the rails as a guide in the re-welding,do not do it. As a first time sa42 builder I felt the rails would be the best way to align the sections also. After 3 welds and 2 re-cuts  , I can say the rails are not strong enough to hold the sections straight! As a long time welder I ...

Re: Stop the insanity!

Insanity?,maybe not.The complete bbl.jacket,no cuts in bearing end,no cuts in the caming section= all the important dimensions/locations for correct gun function. The rear just mounts the stock, fcg, and the rails to guide bolt. The front end controls locking/unlocking,timing of ops. It would sure save ...
