Murph:

Check out my string on PhilOrd full length receivers in the General Discussion Forum. And....an M53 is supposed to be a direct copy of the MG42, at least close enough that the parts will fit an MG42 receiver.

I was at the Dells for a bridge dedication at the little railroad where I used to work. I'm back home now, and I unpacked my latest SOG M53 kit, and it's even nicer than the one I already had. It's got a really nice barrel. :D Here's a photo of the IMA receiver parts. It's cut in the best locations ...

Hi Folks: PhilOrd is looking at several options, but they will all involve a full-length sheet metal receiver. One 80% option is to weld in a bar down the length of the receiver in line with the rail holes. When the rail holes are drilled, you could cut out the bar. All the specifics are up in the a...

Welcome Murph: I'm at my Sister's house in the Dells right now, but I'll be going back to the Black Hills soon. When I get home, I should have two SOG M53 kits waiting for me. I've got an IMA rear receiver set ordered, which should also be there. And....a BREN, waiting welding up :) When I was a cla...

Demon, Boys: I've talked to PhilOrd, and asked your questions. Bob knows what we want, and, as we know, he has to make the Feds happy. The ideas he has will build a hollow sheet metal reciever/shroud. It would be internally "blocked" so that you can't just drop in parts, but not be impossible to "re...

PhilOrd Full length MG42/M53 reciever

Hi folks: I've talked to Bob at Philadelphia Ordnance, and he said that he is working on a full length 80% reciever to solve the chopped up M53 nose problem. He hopes to bring it out in the $700 range. Now, the question....I'm new at this, is it a practical (notice, I didn't say possble, anything is...

Deamontrooper's right, this isn't going to get any easier, as long as the Gummint doesn't want us to have our playthings.

But, it's still just sheetmetal fabrication. And the best we can hope for is that BRP will make another run of new reciever parts.

I'm coming into this late...did you ever list a price for your weld-up?

Thanks,

I'm going with Demontrooper's method. I've got everything but the nose piece, and I'm in on the GB on weaponeer for that.

Deamontrooper:

As a newbie with an M53 in hand and IMS rear sections coming, who is Sherman? Does he/they have the nose pieces of the shroud too?

Thanks, Mike
