Re: MG08 Project
Your weapon ownership details are very interesting. Sometime we should start a thread on different weapons ownership around the world. Ok hope about video someday of the MG08 firing blanks if nothing else. Later 42rocker I guess I will have to sit behind mine and make verbally amusing 'rat a tat' n...

Re: MG08 Project
Awesome job!!! I am very impressed with the wonderful job you've managed to do on this whole project. Excellent work. I'll bet it feels wonderful to bring one of these antiques back to life, especially such an interesting piece. Your booster looks very good indeed, it seems to be a bit shorter than ...

Re: IMA Belt Loader
There's quite a lot of the internal parts missing, and they've put a piece on the front of the drum to hold the belt, and filed off one set of the pins on the drum. Basically, they took out the pocket opening part of the drum loader, put a front end on the drum to hold the metal belt in place, and f...

Re: Never noticed German MG barrels are dated! Did you?
I've noticed that before, but I'll go check my barrels and see what dates Iv'e got! I think the Turk barrels are not made by the Turks, but by the Czech's, on that big contract they had to make Gew 88 parts, MG08 parts, etc in the 20's. I'm pretty sure all those barrels are going to be Czech made, t...

Re: Guns found in a river in ALA>
Very cool to see that they didn't end up chopped up or something! Wish they were out in firing hands, but... this is at least a better resolution than could have happened! Great job!

Re: Maxim belts
Yep, that's definately a 100 round belt for a drum with that tab... the 275 has to be for something else, but Im not sure what. Could that have been with a particular gun? Could that have been applied in NZ during WWII, when they refurbed some of the guns for use against the Japanese? Not sure that'...

Re: Interesting mounts..........
Interesting, the Sokolov mount with some sort of adaptor to fit an 08 is the most immediately interesting, or the big old MG99 or so sled! Pretty cool stuff! Wonder if we could get a good view of what the adaptor is, and make it?

Wow, neat stuff, what happened on all this? Did you escape the Republik of Cali and decide to keep the parts and go for getting a gun? Did Matt Buy it all? Did Matt marry Mark? Enquiring minds want to know?

Re: Another great image!
Look at the top of the gear box on the sleds to the far left. They look like they have something on top of the gear box to stop the bottom of the MG08 from hitting. Much like the post war system that locks the back of the MG08 to the top of the gear box. I was actually just looking at those, I'm gl...

Re: question about the mg34 trigger...
Mine wasn't marked with any waffenampts at all on the trigger guard/ grip or the trigger, I since then reinstalled all original German WWII parts. Im not sure who made them, they are old military, I thought, not new made. I thought they could be perhaps French, or the Chechs?? I can only say the the...

Re: question about the mg34 trigger...
I sort of had this with my gun, I had two good BRP parts kits, and I got the trigger groups of each cleaned up, and all the (vast) amount of cosmoline cleaned out of them... and then went to work. First off, I have been shocked since then looking at transferable MG34's that I have seen; my gun, and ...

Re: Last U.S. WWI vet calls on congress to build memorial
You're right that WWI was a war that never should have happened, but Franz Ferdinand was not a "Minor" Austrian Archduke, he was the Heir to the throne, and in a very real sense in that fractured and multi-ethnic country, the future of the country. Emperor Franz Joseph, Emperor since 1848 or so, was...

Re: New to the Forum, Problems with my MG34
Wow, Excellent Reply TomH!!! I learned something just from reading your post. I'll go check mine. I haven't had many problems with primers blowing out, but we replaced so much stuff repairing my MG34 that I can't tell you if we did that or not right now. :D I can add to this that the Yugo ammo I've ...
