Re: MOUNTAIN TROOP MG 08
Matt's right about mounts here in the US. I'd like to get an early war (standard pattern) sled mount, but I haven't even seen one of those in a while. Mounts are a little hard to find.

Re: Ww2 mg 08/15 bipod attachment?
Interesting comments on the 08/15 front bipod attachment, I'd be happy with a good repro, but I've never seen one of those either! They just don't seem to be out there?

Neat 08!!!! Scary battle damage, I think like you, that most of it was caused by artillery.

Re: what color is correct for 1917 mg08 sled and gun?
Fantastic! I have long suspected and said that the reason there is so much slight variation in feldgrau helmets, sleds, and other equipment is that it was repainted, and the color was mixed in the field - it was not really possible at the time to make many colors that were shelf-stable, and accordin...

Getting our 1914 impression together!
Hi all, we are trying to get our 1914 impression together for the centennial. We're planning to bring out the 08 on the sled, but one thing we have always been looking for other than the cylindrical water can, is the MG 08 crew drag straps. A company in Russia used to make a replica of them, Does an...

MG 08 cylinder water can?
Has anyone ever tried to make a copy of the MG 08 cylindrical water can, the early water can for the NGO eight? This would be the first pattern water cannon that was out early in World War I.

Re: Semi MG08
Try Ancestry.com's international collection, they've been voraciously vacuuming up records that are available, including rolls of Prussian & German soldiers in 1870-71, etc. You might have some luck there, more than you think, especially if you have some more info on him, like unit or town! Neat MG0...

Re: 08 BFA
From all the originals I've seen and the manuals, it appears that the German MG08 barrels were normally threaded at the muzzle, for exactly the blank firing cup that goes on the barrel. The MG08/15 later made use of that to thread on the sleeve for it's muzzle booster, and I've got one imperial blan...
