if my memory is correct---the mg1 utlizes modified mg42 parts and the mg3 uses a new top cover/ frt breaing/feed tray --- specifly to the 7.62x 51 cartridge

the firing pin should only protrude enought to strike the primer --when its completly closed and locked----if it does not close comptley then the pin should not reach the primer.

there should be "d" shaped cut outs on the rece---the tab will go into the "d" cut out---also the thin rail wil go on the side with the recouperator---if my memory's right

sounds like sometimes----something is binding,check the bolt head to the bolt carrier---and when they are locked up ---try to push in the firing pin---if its free then try to move the bolt carrier a bit and see if the fp binds in any place it sure does sound like something is binding up-- just my .0...

the mg3 aa sight fits right in front of the rear sight assy--if my memory is right---it pins onto the rear sight

Fal--like rocker said ---seems to have a little more power --which may be needed with the harder primers on surplus ammo---ar fcg is a little less expensive and may need a littyle more tweaking --but both are working in our semi's

i'm glad you got it firing in both calibers---it looks great on the mount

welcome to the fourm let me start to answer: 1. both are good dealers to do business with 2.make sure you have made the "semi" mode before fabricating the receiver(grip stick and bolt blocker) 3.-yes ---closed bolt -- fal or ar-15 fire control parts work good---fal has a harder "punch" than the ar15...

yes the rear rece will need to have a "blocking bar" installed ---so full auto parts cannot fit---also the hole area around the grip stick will need to be lenghtned---so a full auto fcg would not fit---also the bolt will need to be modifed into a "closed bolt" type of design with a free floating fir...
