Apex M53 parts kits

Post by Cessnapilot89 »

I was wondering, what are the thoughts on the current batch of M53 parts kits from Apex? I am looking into ordering a kit along with BRP stampings to start an MG53/ MG3 Build. After seeing how the front barrel shrouds are cut by the ATF, would it be recommended to get the new MG3 Front sight/ barrel bushing piece and graft it into the shroud as supplied from Apex?

Here is my Build from an APEX kit I bought two years ago. After a lot of work I finally went with the full BRP receiver. Still it was a lot of work as I only have hand tools, Dremel, Drill press and a Tig welder.

Nice work with the build 'USMC 8488" 8)

"CessnaPilot89" you should pick one up, the prices will not likely be that good again, granted they have fluctuated over the years for the M53 kits, but at this juncture, unless lucky in the classifieds, you will not find a better deal.

I agree with prussia, pick at least one up. Ie you want a shooter then buy 2 kits. I did and used the best parts and sold off most of the excess parts. there were some bad parts in both kits, remember they are used and some 50 to 60+ years old.

usmc8488 -- Good Job on your build

The apex mg42 parts kit is a good parts deal. Then you might also want to think about getting a complete receiver (cut of course) from Allegheny Arsenal
