Super nice. If you want to shoot it occasionally, might I suggest installing a shooter's gas piston/cylinder assembly made by Rob Applegate at http://www.apfeltor.com/

It allows you to reduce the gas pressure applied to the action to a SAFE level. The G/K43 will not last a decent lifespan of shooting without one because of poor design of the gas system, which admits far too much gas to operate the bolt, slamming the bolt carrier REALLY HARD against the rear end of the forged receiver. Damage WILL ensue over time. Worst case: You do not want to catch a flying safety lever in the eye!

Nice piece you have there!

Thanks for the info, I haven't shot her yet as 8mm is oddly hard to find here. I can't seem to find 154 grain only 196. FYI, I don't have a safety :(

DO NOT shoot 196 gr 8mm in a G/K43! Way too powerful for the action. If you like shooting that fine rifle, which is a rare and valuable relic, use Romanian or Yugoslavian 8mm ammo, and get the shooter's gas piston/cylinder kit. The original gas cylinder tend to stretch, bulge, and then burst after prolonged shooting. Save your rifle for you to enhoy for years to come. Get the kit.

The Yugo ammo I have is 198 grain. I think it is ok to shoot 196-198 grain 8mm in one of these, but definately use it with the shooter kit that Apfeltor sells.
