A scarce Lafette tripod made for use by the German Mountain troops. The top section has two WaA 200 stamps and is dated August 1940,with the serial number 158 (one of the earliest seen) and is stamped S232, which is the same as fsu, the code for
Brandenburger Fahrradfabrik und Waffenfabrik.
The lower section, complete with spare bolt box, was manufactured in 1943 when these tripods first came into use and is marked with the code for
K.Urbanovsky GmbH, Werk Zastavka bei Bruenn und Segen Gottes (Rosice) bei Bruenn
on the search fire mechanism.
This section has extendable rear legs which swivel through a wide arc to ensure firm footings on uneven terrain. The tripod is painted in ‘Dunkelgelb’ tan with red oxide undercoat and has some green over paint. Pads are original canvas. Slings are post war.
This tripod is coupled with a near MINT deactivated MG34 dated 1943 and having most parts matching numbered.
The top cover has the code for
Johannes Grossfuss,
Metall- u.-Locierwarenfabrik, Doebeln, Saxony and the
Rheinmetall-Borsig 1943 stamp.
The gun comes with a bipod, sling (copy), AA sight, 50 inert rounds with starter tab in a WWII dated ammunition can and a full 1943 dated gunner’s pouch with all components code stamped. There is everything usually found in it with the exception of the small plastic container for sulpher.
The set is completed with an MG-Z34 optic sight made by
Voightlander-Braunschweig
with both filters present plus optic brush in it’s metal can with very rare canvas sling and a reticule illuminator with battery box with the cxn code of EMIL BUSCH AG, OPTISCHE INDUSTRIE RATHENOW.
