Extractor issue

Post by Colonelhogan »

Hello everyone,
This is my first post. Ive been using this forum for research a lot but never registered til now.
Now for my question, has anyone had a failure to feed due to the extractor assembly disassembling within the receiver? I had this happen while testing function with dummy rounds. I also was able to reassemble it without the tool. I inspected the parts as well as the bolt. No issues. I did order a new made extractor spring today. When i reassembled it, i tested it with dummy rounds and had proper extraction. Is this a freak incident or weak extractor spring?

What style extractor is in your bolt? I've heard the old style of extractors are more prone to coming out of the bolt as you describe, but normally under the pressure of firing the MG. I've not heard of this issue with the new style extractor.

Is this a full auto, or semi MG34?

If this only occurred the first time it was tested, perhaps it wasn't quite correctly seated the first time.
