Brp 308 conversion kit/34.

Post by mossie »

Good morning to the group.
Thinking about buying one of the above kits to install in my TNW s/a.
They offer 2 different units.
1. $700.00
2. $750.00 Norwegian military..Has a couple less parts.
Which would be the correct one?
Is it a simple drop in?
With '34 barrels getting into $$ dollars, plus cleaning .
Think it might be time.
Sent a pm to another member.thought would put it out to the rest of the troops.
Have you seen the Lafette mount on ebay?
Current price is $1,220.
Any addill' much appreciated!

How many rounds do you fire a year in your Semi? How many years will it take to make up the difference? How many barrels will you wear out in your life time?

You will buy Non-Corrosive ammo for twice to three times the price. However you are worried about barrel prices?

Of course switching to 308 solves both problems even if 308 is still more than 8mm corrosive...

Sorry, never used either setup, acutally I would love to know. Prices on these kits seem high, esp on the barrel.

Do I have a problem with the above kit?
Installed the unit. Real simple.
BUT the feed cover will not close!
IF I remove the feed tray . Shuts fine.
The upper left corner of the tray ..where it is curved to match the shorter length
of the 308 cartridge. Appears to be a tiny bit high.
Will try the 8mm tray and see if it shuts.
If it does, that should mean the 308 tray is defective.
Just sent Brian a long detailed note about the problem.
He has my phone number, so hopefully he will ring me up.

Plan B....could file the edge down till the cover shuts ?
But after spending almost $ 800 for the unit! Sure Brian will make it good.
If it wasn't 2228 hrs, I would go out in the kitchen and have a Guinness.
Best to the group.

See prior email.
Tried the 8mm feed tray.As always, it works.Locks up tight.
It appears to be a small amount of metal is standing between me and sucess.
Will let the group know how my chat with Brian turns out.
Cheers.

See prior emails.
The problem was the 308 feed tray.
Brian and I worked thru all possible combos,
A small ridge of metal on the tray was preventing the top cover from shutting.
Sending the tray back to BRP,and Brian will send me another one.
Said he would try it in his '34..308 to make sure all is correct.
"Him, good fella".
Forum rather quiet lasst few days.
Cheers

I think everyone is still tired from all that Turkey.

Glad to hear Brian is helping you out. I knew he would.

+1 about brian. Not tired from turkey, busy hand loading belts for my 1919a4 and m53 for saturday, and hopefully get vids of m53 working like it did first outting, and no "kabooms"

Glad you got the feed tray figured out, just saw your email, and my only thought would be the try was too tall. Mine fit right in with little effort.
