new to the mg34

Hello everyone,

I'm glad to have found this board, I've already gotten so much good information just by reading a few posts, so thanks alot! I'm starting to price out and look for all the parts I'll need to construct a semi MG34, I was just wondering if anyone has a good source for individual parts, such as a the barrel jacket. Also whats a fair price for a complete parts kit? I've seen some floating around but I have no point of reference to make sure I'm not being gouged. any info would be greatly appreciated.

I think TNW will sell you a lot of parts. I am not crazy about their prices.

I would rather try and call Brian at BRP and ask him. He often has what you need.

A lot of the parts from other suppliers appear to have disappeared into commercial operations like TNW. Marstar, in Canada is supposed to have everything, but stories abound on the issues and troubles even Canadians have getting parts from them. Accessories might be easier.

Parts kits are very expensive these days. Seems like about 50% more than just two years ago and 100% more than 4 years ago. I see them on gunbroker, sometimes not in such great shape for over $800 and often more, like 1000. BRP sells partial kits or kits, usually with detailed descriptions, but they cost similar amounts even if they need more parts. You might survey gunbroker recent sales and look for the reasonable completed auctions with sales. Some of those are still way overpriced but you can get a feeling for how the prices are going.

Gunbroker and BRP are gonna be your only sources for parts kits. The receiver is the hard part. You can go with a TNW for about 1600 or do a reweld. Depending on your skills you can do it or send it to project guns to have it done. They take a while but the work is top notch. You will need the semi parts from TNW. After that you need to "fine tune" the gun to get it reliable. An MG34 is really a labor of love

Labor of love yes, but they are fantastic shooters once the bugs are worked out. My TNW took me quite a while to figure out. A few recent calls to Lance at TNW had it running like a top. I ordered a longer ejector from BRP first and now it hasn't misfed in over 500 rounds. The kit is an S-243 from BRP and it is currently my favorite gun to shoot when wifey goes out with the little one. I can't wait to build my panzermantel kit. The receiver on the Mauser gun still needs blued and it will go to Black River Militaria as Bob's blueing job was top notch on the 42 I rewelded. Even blue even over the welds.
Btw, last time I looked, about 3 months ago, BRP still had complete kits. They were pricey but he had them and they looked nice. Still wish I had bought a pile of them from FAC for 275 when they were doing their out of business close out sale. Best of luck finding a good kit to start with.
