I wasn't able to get the URL link to work with your flikr host but was able to download your pic directly.

Its amazing anything works right around here with a bunch of

Bill,

Have a bunch of pics; will post a few every now and then. One of the few accessories that I do NOT have is the work box for the ground kit.

Another question-do all the tanker models have that orange/brown color in front? Is it a protective finish for the exposed section? Also,I think I saw a pic that had a kind of slot in the jacket,it that to hold it in place when mounted in the vehicle? Thanks! ---bil

Bill,

I am not sure but was told once or twice that the reddish color is from USSR refurbing. Not really sure how that all works. The armored barel jakect is completely that color - doesn't appear to have ever been finished another way. Where is this "slot" you mentioned and I will take some comparison pics.

that red color comes from rebluing steel. really hard steel turns that purple color when it is reblued. this is what i have been told.

That is true. I had the same thing happen to a reblued k98 bolt once. Hardened steel turns brown when reblued, BUT IT CAN BE FIXED. Just clean the part with denatured alcohol, heat it to 130 deg F, and apply cold blue acid. That will continue the reaction to a dark charcoal black. Looks much better.

Chris,

Thanks for the info.

yes, That is a G43. There are 3 of them in the photo. From left to right inside - 2cm FlaK38 barrel, MG34, 2x98K, MP44, 3xG43, 3x98K, G33/40, PPSh 41, (I think these last two are hidden in the back), AK74, M76, Nagant.
