Hi Phil,

http://www.MG34.com has them, but getting them exported to the UK will be the hard part. Most of the importers don't want to do the paperwork involved to export any of the parts they've imported, so they just say that they won't do it.

I don't see why they could not send from the US to the UK as several US based board members have had MG3 Lafette tripods from Germany. I also got one of these MG3 tripods at a bargain £70 plus shipping :D

The only real problem I could see is that HMR&C will almost certainly slap you with VAT, import fees and the fee to open the box and reseal it very badly.

You could give this place a go http://www.ww2medalsbadgesandinsignia.c ... Ammunition
they have one listed but no price. Never used them as I only found their site a few days ago.

It's running about $2 U.S. to a British pound right now, so about $280.

Check http://www.XE.com for currency exchange rates.

thanks for all the info everyone, much appreciated, the only supplier i managed to find for the Lafettes is a company in America called I.M.A, they are willing to despatch one to the uk for me, the only thing im worried about is if it gets pulled at customs and they charge me extra etc, has this ever happened to anyone in the past, and also has anyone dealt with I.MA
thanks
Phil

True, I didn't read close enough. I saw "german or post war" and figured he just wanted a ground tripod.

If you import one then I am quite sure Customs will send you a bill but I don't think it will be impounded, mine wasn't. If it was small and high value you can get away with it, but due to the size of this I doubt it. On my past experience I would say the cost will go up by 25 % after the Gov. have had their slice of the action.

you could try http://www.egun.de as they turn up there now and again with the advantage of no nasty surprises from Customs. Cost me 30 Euros for delivery of my post war tripod from Germany and it took about 3 days.

I'm starting to think that the Yugo post war Lafettes may have been made by East Germany for the Yugo's. The Lafettes have odd markings on some of their parts...usually an alphanumeric code like K32 in an oval. Identical to East German weapons manufacturer codes. Something to think about.

I.M.A. is really good. dealt with them quite a few times, and havent ever been disapointed. products are described well, so if they say expect worn abused things, thats what youll get. but everything Ive gotten was near new to NOS.

Interesting observation 'Reichpapers' as my 'Yugo' built Lafette also has similar markings in ovals.
