Well I'm happy to Officially Announce to everyone out there that another MG34/41 Lafette has been found.
In his book MG34 - MG42 German Universal Machineguns, Folke Myrvang lists 3 other serial numbers. Well this is another serial number to be added to the list, #78. note there might be others out there, but this is the list of known serial numbers at this time.
I was pleased to show it to both Folke Myrvang and Bergflak at the last Knob Creek Gunshow, 10/2017. Both agreed that it looks like another one. My partner "Avman" and I and they agree that it is a big basket of parts at this time. The "Oberlafette (Upper mount)" was intact, now apart for review and repainting. My partner and I have agreed to review and double check and make sure that everything is correct and redone and this Rare Lafette is correct and accurate. I've asked both Folke and Bergflak for their help and they both said that they would help us out keeping us on the straight and narrow.
Now this is good news for you folks also, why because we are going to post pictures of what we are doing in the rebuilding of this Rare Lafette. Now we have been looking for a few replacement parts to help us finish this big basket of parts. Wanted at this time is a Front Leg (only major part missing). It Must be an fsu marked leg! If you have one that is for sale Please let me know. pm, email or in person.
I'm going to have a couple of threads on this rebuild. One will be locked for rebuild info only. The other will be open for questions and comments and you are welcome to post in that one.
How long will this rebuild take. As Long as Needed!! This will not be a quick rebuild. We will try to post updates on a weekly basis.
Thanks to both Folke and Bergflak for their help in keeping us on the straight and narrow.
Well here are a couple of pictures to get us going.
Later 42rocker and Avman
Data on the Back plate MG34/41 statement on the slide Slide and Trigger (trigger style as used on the MG34/41)
