Bil, with my limited education ( :lol: ), I was smart enough to back to the website in the link and look for a caption. There was one and said: "The Machine Gun Sharpshooter Abteilung 77 back home after 4 years of war."

The real point of the timing is to show that these mounts were around during WWI. Even if this is right after then end of the war, clearly its WWI issue.

4 x sleds - as per my previous thread to me this still confirms that there were indeed 3 stages of sled 'development'. All are WWI German made/stamped/marked with dates. The absence of 'boxes' denotes later war, more economic manufacture and frankly the absence of oil/jelly containers and small parts box hardly effects sled role/usage? Also worth noting, these sleds were made this way and have not had the ''offending'' boxes removed. \hope this helps.
