Gun boards uniting, Info you need to read.

Post by flemgunner »

Its being talked about on alot of boards and to me, at least, sounds like a great idea. I know alot of us go to these different boards but there are quite a few that only do one or two so basically that's ALOT of people we are talking about.
If a new ban were to take place this would be a good way to let them know our minds about it.

The link has a lot of good ideas-mostly we have to remember we are all in this together, and a ban on any gun is a threat to all of us.They have some of the new bills listed to write your reps about, call also.Let them know NOW how we feel, not when it is already in committee,Etc.Let them know we are here and are watching. We want change too,it just may not be the same change they have in mind, ---bil

Hell coordinated letter writing, marches, boycotts anything. Ill let people smarter than me figure that out but doing something is better than just waiting for the axe to fall

Excellent, excellent idea.

What do we need to do to make sure we are part of the action?

I would assume that one of our moderators need to contact the folks at the AR15 board?

He could then function as the intermediator to pass news and appropriate actions on to us.

The weak under-belly of the three branches is the Legislative, especially the House.

Of course rallies never hurt but they do not necessarily help, however rallies coupled with the fact that the Clinton AWB was part of the impetus for the Republican revolution of 1994 could prove to be powerful. Also it may give courage to freshman Blue Dog Dems (that tend to be conservative) to buck their leadership.

The conventional wisdom is a party will accept members breaking with leadership, (voting to save their seat on controversial bills) because keeping the party majority is more important than passing every bill, but the onus is on us to make any new AWB a controversial bill.

A bit off topic, but this weekend I heard a PBS reporter refer to Harry Reid as a "pro-life, pro-gun liberal." I couldn't believe my ears, so I checked it out. Sure enough, Reid voted for the bill prohibiting punitive law suits against gun manufacturers, against the assault weapons ban, though he voted for the Brady Bill and background checks at gun shows.

I'm hoping that between the conservative southern democrats and the remaining Republicans, we might be able to block bad legislation -- IF we hear about it in time, and work TOGETHER to blanket the House with letters.

And I love the idea of a rally in D.C. Who is powerful enough to unite gun-owners into actually showing up? (Unlike most liberal interest groups, gun owners work for a living!)

Harry Reid pro-gun, I gather I should stop calling him Harry Reid-tard then

That is not off-topic at all, in fact that is VERY important to know.

just posted this on AR-15
Speaking as an Admin for MG42.us (only 2340 Members) we'd like to sign on to support the concept.

Speaking personally, I think the plan to use this new forum as a hub to build a confederation of forums aims too low in its final objective. Our goals would ultimately be better served by building a union of forums. I accept this will be a difficult idea to make run practically and smoothly. Gun owners are a diverse group that share two traits ,
They are stubborn individuals concerned with there own "rice bowls" and are not easily swayed to defend beliefs beyond their own, uniting them under one banner will be like herding cats.
They are [yellow]CHEAP[/size=3][/yellow]. Flat-out, 80 Million gun-owners - 2 Million are willing to scrape up the few bucks to be a NRA member. I'm no fan of the NRAs failures, but I am a member.

The result we want will only be achieved by dedication and [green]CASH[/size=4][/green]. No one has said anything in this thread about the tremendous amount of cash Obama was able to raise to effect the changes he wants. We won't be able to realistically compete in the political arena without some fund raising ability.

My [red]RADICAL[/red] proposal is this,
Start the new forum, whatever its named, as a confederation have one section open to the general membership were they can give and receive info on a federal and individual state level.
Latter once its become established (end of 2009?) charge something like 10 bucks a year to be a member. They get a "member number" or something every year to show they've paid.

Have the second section open only to the designated leadership of the different forums. Have those forums pledge to require new members to already be a member of the political forum to join and existing members to join by the end of 2009.

OK, Its not really my idea i stole it from those "instant access" Porno pop-ups. they say "join once - good for 100's of sites".

The individual forums provide some service to their members - information, entertainment, whatever , why shouldn't they all start closing to those who refuse to support the rights they enjoy?

referenced earlier in this thread [blue]AWBsunset.com [/blue] - I was a rabid fan of that site, mike the owner closed it down about 3 months after the sunset. shame really a ton of good info was lost but traffic was non-existent by that point.

FLAME ON Image
lets see if anything practical happens.
"good , bad, .....I'm the man with the gun."

Its amazing anything works right around here with a bunch of
over-age juvenile delinquents running the place.

I think that to be an excellent idea. A single forum completely dedicated to the rights of firearm owners. Information and news providable to everyone of any state, and things they can do to help win the war against terror (and i'm not talking about the one in those arab nations, ).

Hey guys, the web site is up (still needs some stuff done but you can register there) also they are going to have a contest to raise some fundage check this sh*t out!!!!

"perhaps the biggest news of the night thus far, we are going to be having an extremely exciting contest coming up soon as our first fund raiser. And it will all be owed to one very generous arfcommer who stepped forward on his own to make the donation. We'll be raffling off chances on winning an all expenses paid trip to Thunder Ranch to take an Urban Rifle course under Clint Smith. That includes the course fees, the ammo, and transportation, even airfare if that is needed to get the winner there. Folks, you don't get that kind of prize on the TV game shows! So I am sure you will all have fun with that. I can't say for sure when that will begin, as we need to get some things taken care of as far as selecting a treasurer, getting a post office box, getting our bank account opened up get a PayPal account going and finalizing our status as a non-profit corporation. But it will be just around the corner. I'll also be letting everyone know exactly who the very generous forum member here is as soon as he lets me know that doing so is ok. Some people don't like to do these things openly. So I will get his permission first before sharing his screen name. But again, this contest is just around the corner. So stay tuned! This is about to turn interesting"

Perhaps! There is also talk of raising taxes on ammo - to something like 400~500% !!!

Obviously, raising taxes on ammo to those kinds of levels is a back-door ban on all firearms, no matter the type.

1 representative of each website will be given a free "Brass membership" . Not sure the actual value of it, but hey, it free :) . Salt6, you up for representing us, or any of you Mods currently active in that forum? Just a reminder, if it's offered free, why not take it  .

Brass membership allows access to a special forum, i'm guessing the mostly all the board rep's first, then any one whom donates.
