Looking for demilitarized MG42

Make sure that the box that you are buying is 8mm. Talk to them about it as a lot of companies have not problem selling .308 boxes as German boxes for the mg42.

Thanks! I'll be sure and check before buying. One question, I suppose all the WW II MG42/MG34's were 7.62mm. I'm guessing the 7.92 (8mm) was post war Yugoslavian. Correct? (The box I have is a post-war German army one a friend sent me from England a while back. Nice for my collection but unsat for the M53 program. )

Since the ammo can I have apparently is for 7.62 and will not fit the 7.92 ammo I have, I ordered a can from MG34/Allegheny Arsenal for only $15.00. Got to have the right stuff! LOL

Little problem:
After I inserted the barrel guide bushing and nozzle and screwed on the recoil booster/flash hider I am unable to get the barrel to go all the way into the shroud. Pictures:

The 1st picture above shows how far in it will go before stopping. I've jiggled and pushed but I certainly don't want to screw it up in any way so I'm asking if any of you guys have an idea as to what's happening.

Are all four 'ears' on the guide bushing are lined up with the receiver? It is supposed to glide in and out.

The guide bushing is off and not going through the barrel bushing far enough. This could be happening -- 1st your guide bushing is off by 90 degrees turn it to let the guide busing through. See how far out the guide bushing sticks out in the following.

Okay, I'll work on that. The guide bushing didn't glide in and out and was a bit difficult to get in. I'll pull it, clean it real good (and the inside of the barrel sleeve too where it's supposed to slide thru the 4 grooves). Fingers crossed.

Got it! All I really needed to do was rotate it until the correct alignment was achieved and it slid right in. I didn't want to try to force it as I knew that was the wrong move! I appreciate the help from y'all!

So could not allow you to be wrong no matter what it took. You folks did a nice job on that and for that to happen was sad.

So lets see another pic of the guide bushing sticking out where it should be.

Though it wasn't the case here, folks should also be aware that carbon can build up in these areas and cause fit problems if not cleaned properly. Sometimes burrs on the bushing lugs and channels can make the bushing tight as well.

Well, I'm preparing to measure and mark all the cuts, etc for my BRP receiver. Got my blue layout fluid and metal scriber ready but am waiting for my digital calipers to get here (later this week). The links 42rocker provided here and the info on Brian's web site will be my guide. Fingers crossed there will be no screwups!
