SA bolt extension, firing pin, FCG dimensions

Post by Mauser98 »

I just picked up an M53 kit, building it SA of course (unfortunately...). I've done a few other kits but nothing this involved. I would like to do as much of it on my own as I can. I'm planning on using BRP receiver halves with an AR component FCG.

My question is: are there drawings/dimensions available for a SA bolt extension, firing pin, and modifications for the AR FCG? I've looked all over to no avail. I would like to fabricate these components myself. It's not that I can't afford them, I just enjoy making things.

I've already reverse-engineered the barrel bushing. Still need to add grooves for the guide sleeve to slide in. Planning on using the Bridgeport as a vertical shaper. Grind a tool, lock the spindle, and take many small cuts with the quill (power off of course). Anyone try that yet?

Thanks, 42rocker! That's pretty much exactly what I need. Only thing I'm missing is firing pin dimensions, but I can probably figure them out if that's the only missing piece though.

Thanks again!

1st As we are both doing this on Christmas.
MERRY CHRISTMAS

2nd Good Luck on making a firing pin. I have always bought mine from Brian at brpguns.com
at a cost of $30.00 I'm not going to try to make one that length and that thin on my lathe.
