Thanks for your reply, longhorn, but you're not the one who can control the board software settings to solve the problem. ;)

I know how to make the text bigger and smaller.... I take care of 275 computers at a school for a living.

Changing the text size on the 9" wide usable area doesn't help eliminate the 3" of black wasted space on each side of the viewable area. What has happened is that the board software no longer inquires what resolution the user computer is running at. If I set my screen at 800 x 600, the screen is filled. I work in graphics a lot, and if you draw a true square in a program at a resolution which is not 1280 x 1024, it doesn't look square on the screen. That's why people using AutoCad and drawing programs like to use that res. That's why Orin Harding asked about it, that's why I asked about it. Most online software asks the user computer what res to use, so that the screen is properly sized.

When the new board software was first setup, my screen was filled and all was well. Then one night there were 3" wide black bars on the sides of the screen. It's like having a 13" monitor instead of 19".

John-I have always had the black bars on the side-my screen is 12 1/2 " wide, and the board is 9 1/2.I just thought it was supposed to be like that. And don't show off-I might not know much about computers, but here at the Home,I am in charge of ALL the crayons-and there's lots of them! :? ---bil

Wait; chat is not coming back? I miss DA.... ok, that sounds a little questionable, but that SOB and his damned website got me addicted to all this crap when I was like 13. Not even done with the '42, and I already plunked 2K into an MP44. Thanks alot Kurt :D .

Alright...who's the joker that removed my black wasted space? It was the only thing I looked forward too to get me through the day.

Salt6, be advised that Bil is only sending those colour crayons he hasn't EATEN yet. You'll be getting the box of 50 with the built in sharpener, but with only 23 crayons left in the box. Yes, he ate the Salmon one.

Arrgh now when I tab between pages they are different sizes. On the plus side there is more space to move about in.

Jbaum you look after 275 computers at a school, well I suppose with that many computers to remove porn from you would need larger text. ;)

Working as a Service Engineer I have long ago stopped assuming people know anything about computers/printers. My favorite, and I have had this twice, is my printer won't print... I get there to fix said printer and ask did you try switching it on? The reply "OH I didnt know you had to switch it on"... give me strenth

So you were lucky I didn't say "move your head closer to the screen".
The only thing that helps me maintain my slender grip on reality is the friendship I share with my collection of singing potatoes.

WOOHOO!!! Chat is back.

Longhorn: It isn't the teachers that I have trouble with, it's the substitute teachers who get excited about having a 10meg/second fiber optic line to play with. Popups, adware, spyware, sports betting sites.... I have several teachers with passwords on their computers because the subs play on their computers and screw them up. Now I just tell the subs they can't use the computers.

My favorite one from my other customers is:

Of course I run anti-virus software. It came with the computer when I bought it 3 years ago.

Uhh, that was a 30 day free trial. Remember all the popups telling you it expired? Then I bet you got tired of seeing them and deleted it.... didn't make any backups when you bought the computer like it said to do, did you? You know, the ones you were supposed to make of the operating system? Remember the popups telling you about that?

Uhhh yea I remember, and I didn't have any blank CDs, but you can save everything, right? I have 3 years of work on there and I HAVE to have it. You're the computer guy. I've heard you're good.

You should have saved some of those CDs you filled with downloaded music and made a backup of your operating system. Flattery won't get your stuff back. Your hard drive crashed from the 14 different viruses you had, and wiped the partition with your operating system back up. You should have called me months ago when it started crashing. These things don't get better if you wait. Now you need to go to Circuit City or Best Buy and get an operating system CD... Oh, it's about $90. No, I can't get you a pirate copy. And buy anti-virus software while you're there. It's another $40, which is what I'll charge to reload your computer with all your stuff gone. Come on, crying won't help. Here's a kleenex.

The ability of some people to abuse the right of being ignorant is amazing, and very profitable. :)

Why did you select post time instead of post date as the primary sort. What i get is a confused jumble. Requiring
