Look at the booster. I'd bet it's an MG3.

It looks to me like an Egyptian Rashid.

Boy I wonder how many great weapons are torched over there that our troops should be able to bring back as war trophy's.

It looks like the homegrown Iraqi copy of the Rashid. I cannot remember what they callet it but I used to have one in my arms room when I was over there "visiting" last year.
I am trying to get back there now because a friend has an MG3 for me to use on my next trip hehe. It is the only 7.62 Nato machinegun I like so far.

Cool pics. Been there, done that. We ran up on some StG-44's over there. The ammo that was with them was made in the 60's. Unreal at all the old weapons running around there.

What did you guys end up doing with the StGs? Is there any way to explain to the higher ups how rare these weapons are and how it would be such a tragedy to destroy them?

And thanks for your service killerman!!

I think someone should bury all the weapons they captured, and make plans for future recovery when the laws change.

My nephew said they stacked the AKs they captured and set them on fire. I couldn't have done there. That is so WRONG!

not legal.

some guys put a half dozen AK's in a water bladder a few years back and had it shipped back to their unit. everything went well until one of them gave one to a brother in law, who shot it at a range in front of a local cop. under the bright lights, the thread unraveled. one of the GI's went to courts martial, and the other 2 took reduction in rank and pay grade. not a pretty sight.

two people can keep a secret, if one of them is dead.
working on it!
