Does anyone know WHERE I can purchase a Yugo (WWII German Like) Lafette for a Mg42 ???

I have checked All of the Magazine adds and posted on this site.

These things are drying up, even the cheaper (in price) Yugo mounts.

They keep popping up on Ebay every now and then. There are two currently for sale, one going for £500 but minus the optic mount and platform and another for £976.17.
If you don't mind my asking, what's your budget?

I am looking for the Cheaper Post War Yugo tripod to use on a non fireing Mg42. It would be part of my private collection , and I would use it for re-enacting , and a display at my local military museum.

I want it to look like the WWII German Lafette , and Not the Mg53 H&K mount , or the Danish Masden.

It would NOT be used as a live fire mount platform, but I would want it to function and be in good condition.

At this time , I would like to fnd one in the range of $500.00 - $800.00 range.

I have only seen One currently on ebay , Do you have the links to the two mounts that you see ?

Sorry to say I don't think that your going to find a lafette near the bottom of that price range. They used to cost a lot more than that then a shipment of them came in and the price went down and now starting to head up again. Good Luck.

It will cost almost that to ship from the UK or Europe.

IMA is the best deal - I looked for two years.
(Just looked it looks they are sold out, bummer)
Or, go on holiday to Germany pick one up from Zib and bring it home as luggage - they will not ship one to the US.

I'll sell you mine for $1000 -- then I'll buy Tommygunners resto -- which would involve taking my family to Italy which they would love.

I was able to just purchase a Yugo Lafette from Germany for $520.00. + S&H.

It has the Straps and Bolt Box included, also throwing in Various (Unknown yet) parts
for the Mg53.

It looks clean in the photo , and the claim is that it is working and complete.

I will be using it only for Display.

It is suposed to ship to me tomorrow , I dont know how U.S. customs will deal with
this at the boarder , but otherwise , I should get it in a few weeks.

I can't wait :D :D :D :wnana: :wnana:

Glad to hear about the price. Hope that the s&h is not to bad. Big One -- hope it gets in just fine. I've heard that it can happen without any problems and I hope that it does.

Good Luck

Mabie I am a bit too impatient, but just curious if anyone here has purchased a LARGE item (Mg42 Lafette, 50 lbs.) from
Germany to U.S.A. ???

Well , I purchased one from Germany.

It is being shipped by DHL (Germany) , and I have been able to track it untill Aug. 8th. Since then there has been NO
MOVEMENT on the package , at least from the DHL Track number given to me, and using their Track site on their Web
Page.

There was also a U.S.P.S. Tracking number generated from DHL in Germany, for use by U.S.P.S. when it does get into
the U.S.A.

This number (U.S.P.S.) tells me that the "Origin post is preparing Shipment". This is after NO movement after their last scan over a week ago, (Is this Still sitting somewhere in Germany)?

I guess my question would be ........ What is Going on with my package (Mg42 Lafette), and What really takes place
in Germany to get it here , and HOW long will it actually take before I will receive it ???

This was actually placed in shipment on Aug. 5th. from Germany to the U.S.A.

Is there a U.S.A. Customs Delay ??

I know .... Too many questions, but I have waited a long time to get a Lafette , and I am now Soooooo close, but
it is still Soooo far from getting here.

ANYONE here 'BEEN THERE, DONE THAT" and know HOW All this overseas shiping thing works, especially with a 'GUN STAND' from Germany , PLEASE ..... Chime in !!!!

Thanks

I just received my Yugo Lafette from the U.S.P.S. about a hour ago. the package had Tracking numbers on it , but it was not scanned anywhere during its trip across the U.S.A. , it was scanned only across Germany !!

So , I didn't know it would be here today ...... What a Awesome suprise. :bnija: :bnija: :D

This thing is in Fantastic Condition , it is definatly Yugo , and not WWII German. I have looked and I cannot find any
German markings. Everything works on it , nothing is bent or broken , and the paint has minimal to no chipping.

The seller threw in for free 15 - 7.9 50 Rd. belts, a set of Yugo Lafette carry straps, and a canvas action cover.

I will go clean all of the cosmoline off of it, then I will send more photos later.

Here is the first photo , still in the box ! :D :D :D :D

Nice - very similar to mine - I sat mine in the hot sun for an hour or two, and just wiped off the cosmo with a rag, it was pretty efficient.

Here are a few other photos of my "Just Deliverd" Lafette. I have still found NO marks or stampings on it ANYWHERE !!

It is Definatly a Post war Yugo stand , as there is no Optics platform , and it also has a Yugo Range plate.

I am still very pleased with it , it has the Flavor of a WWII vintage stand and it will only be used with my Dummy
Mg42 for display , So it is close enough for me , and a lot Cheaper that a Original WWII version.

The seller did throw in the deal a set of Yugo Lafette carry straps. I will not be using them as they are very different
in comparison to the WWII Carry straps. I will find a good Repro set somewhere.

I plan to get a Repro WWII German era range plate, and I am also considering on a new paint job, not sure
on color ..... Panzergrau , or Tan ??? Any suggestions on color ??

I ordered the "plastic" material range plate off Ebay and it is too small.

I didn't realize it was quite so... ...plastic until it arrived.
*It did look good in the auction, lol.

The rivets on mine are very close to the edge of the tin Yugo range plate, they would overlap the edge of the repro range plate.

Just a heads up - I am sure there are better ones out there.

I would love to find a tin material German range plate.

I think the plates at Allegheny are alloy:

Couldn't help on the rivet hole dimensions though.

I have already spoted the Range plate from Allegheny. I dont know about the dimentions , and dont know if they
are Aluminum made. It's worth the try. I will call Allegheny first, and ask HOW it is made before I purchase it from
them ! If Aluminium ..... A good price for $25.00 + S&H , even if it is a Repro.

what about color , PanzerGrau , or Tan ??? What would work best for the Mg42 ? Any thought on this ??
