Gun Show Finds

Post by mg34nz »

Gun Show booty this weekend

Had a guy come up to me with this lot, he knew I was restoring Maxim guns and had these left overs from way back in the dark ages when he had some Maxim guns Obviously a stripped feed block, water plugsand water fitting are 08 and the firing pin may be Vickers but the other bits are a mystery, one bit looks British (brass chain and 1918 dated)one sight slider has Imperial German proof marking, another may be a sight part from a SMLE sight. Any insight into what the mystery objects may be would be great.

I asked what sort of price he wanted and he declared that I could fuel his alcoholism bu buying him a bottle of brandy as an exchange....Great deal and much definitely appreciated

Thanks Andy

Not sure myself, but those are some cool items.

The Imperial marked slider is probably for an Imperial German Mauser 98. It looks like the slider on my Imperial German Navy 1898 Mauser.

The slider looks like it belongs on a standard Gewehr 98 with the roller coaster sight, I think that's what it is- neat score! You did great!

Bottom picture/question.....Yes, all Vickers items, steel feedblock, firing pin, water jacket plug, jacket connector quick connect fitting, etc. Good find. Steel feedblocks are WWII vintage, probably Aussie.....look for a 'MA' stamping.

Good spares to have.

Tom H not sure if we are looking at the same picture as feedblock is German MG08. As for the screw in water connector also German MG08, I have been looking for one for three years in case the owner wants to sell!!!
