Hello folks,
I came here to find out more information on building a semi-auto MG42 clone from a kit and to look for an MG34 barrel shroud.

Bpalls86,
First....thank you for your service to our country.
After working with reenactors.....and making "Blanks" for over 20-years (after 20+ years in the US Army/Retired).........I would suggest that you do a couple of things first.
1: Review the "designs" used in the "BFONG's" (Chuck's original guns).......and with Indiana-Ordnance-Works (?) Blank-Firing-Guns/Models.......
What one Company did was to design a Blank-Firing-Only gun that would only load and fire towards the rear............the second Company made their Blank-Firing-Only gun where it had "proprietary-parts" (by design and "size") so that they would only work in their guns ("supposably").
2: Come up with a couple of ideas........and then meet me first at:
Blanksguy2001@outlook.com
I would like to be able to give you a more in-depth idea of what is required (by BATF and/or "locally" to you for this to be legal.).......and then help to guide you through design and making it so that with your initial posting to the Blank-Adapting-Thread.....more of our MG42-Board readers will be able to benefit from our discussion.
After review, and maybe a couple quick questions, I can direct you how/where to post your initial questions into the "Blank-Adapting the MG42/SA42/M53" Thread in the MG42 General-Section.
If that sounds acceptable.......I will await your e-mail.

Many thanks, Salt, for the fast approval!
I'm heading towards retirement, probably moving out of state, and I'm planning on doing lots of fun things with machinery - have to start the grandkids off right! So, I've been stashing various kits over the years, with the view towards finishing them off as semi builds in the years to come. I've done quite a few FALs, AR, AK builds, etc, but I've got those FND kits, the Schwarzlose, Vickers, MG53 and MG1 parts, 1919....you folks know the drill.
Anyway, here for research, ideas and swapping stories.
Thanks to everyone for posting all this info up, heckuva resource!

Hello,
I'm 3D modeller and fond of modelling guns, weapons, etc.
Usually I make complete 3D models, including all pins, trigger group, barrel bolt, extractor, ejector, etc.
I already made and animate 100 + complete 3D models. So I know a little bit about how the stuff works.

Re: New Member Introductions
I think you'll find the post gun will be the easy one. The semis require a lot of tuning when they get in the mood.

Re: New Member Introductions
Hello to all. RODOM here, new member and fan of this website. Have been into guns a long time and especially the MG42. Bought a MG53 parts kit the other day, hoping to build a semi out of it. Already put an order in for John Baum's manuals, and I hope to learn from all the experienced members here. Been gunsmithing and building my own stuff and for friends for a long time - I'm an old fart - but I have so much to learn from you all.
Looking forward to chatting with the members, and please forgive my ignorance when I ask dumb stuff. I'll be in the background and reading up on all the cool stuff you guys have been doing, and trying to teach and old dog a new trick. Andf if by some chance I can be of help to any of you, please ask.

Re: New Member Intro
Also a new member here. Looking for guidance as I muddle my way thru trying to build an MG53 kit from Apex. Hope some of the member are patient with questions, but I'll try very hard not to ask dumb ones. Not new to guns or gunsmithing, just new to this forum and the MG 53.

Re: Introductions (or one way to increase your post count).
Hello to all. I'm another FNG - and hope to be building a Yugo kit soon. I have been emailing several of the board members, and everyone has been great. Special thanks to Der Alder, he's given me some great advise and information. Acquiring parts at this point to start the build, and have all of the noob question everyone has at the beginning. Again, to those who have already been so kind I saw thanks.
