Re: Wiselite bolt smooth as butter, BRP bolt stuck

What is it you need help with? Measure the two bolts and see what dimensions don't match, or measure the rails and see where they're tight. Fit the bolt to the gun or fit the gun to the bolt.

Re: Display at the local gun store

That's a modern MG3 tripod (Lafette) and scope with box.
The box attached to the scope is a battery box for reticle illumination. It came with a lot of the MG3 tripods and scopes. It holds D cell batteries.

Re: The old pictures

When my wife was a flight attendant, I got to fly for free so going to the Phoenix SAR show was easy. Once I had to start paying to fly, the manuals I sold didn't cover the tickets, let alone the other expenses, so I gave it up. The real kick was having the D-Day reenactment in Conneaut, OH cancel f...

D-Day event at Conneaut, OH in August cancelled

Just got the email. The D-Day reenactment event in Conneaut, OH has been cancelled due to everyone's favorite China export (virus).

I still have hopes Rockford, IL will have their event.

Better luck to us next year.

Re: Bolt locking in barrel extension

Yup, that would do it. Once it's the right length, you might need a new recuperator part since it was shortened to make it allow the barrel to fit. The front shroud can be cut into two pieces, spread to the correct length, then tig welded back together. It's not that big of a deal, for the right guy...

Re: Bolt locking in barrel extension

My original, full auto/never been cut MG42 barrel bushing goes in until it is flush even with the muzzle threads. Your barrel in only recoiling about half of what it should. That's either a recuperator problem, or the front barrel shroud is too short. I suspected the same events with the seller as y...

Re: Bolt locking in barrel extension

Good diagnosis work so far. On a factory gun, the barrel recoils about 7 mm rearward before the rollers contact the cams to start unlocking, but it has to go further than that to finish unlocking. If it only moves .173" (equals 4.4 mm), there's the problem. You need to find what's causing that. Will...

Re: how to use a MG42 broken shell extractor ?

The two extractors function the same on their particular barrels. For those who don't know: What you have in the picture is the shell extractor for an MG42. The MG34 extractor doesn't have the rings on the posts that stick out, and the spacing of the posts is different between the two. If the case t...

Yes you can upload a picture, or several if you like. Start a new message, go to the bottom of the message where it says Save Draft, Preview, Save, and look to the left where it says Options, ATTACHMENTS. Click on Attachments and follow the directions. People used to put stuff on Photobucket all the...

Well, is the ammo box Swiss or Austrian? I have the MG74 operator manual, but of course, it doesn't have dimensions.

Austria made the MG74. I never heard of the Swiss making one too. The Swiss have an MG51.
