Introductions (or one way to increase your post count).

Just about anything goes but no MG42 or MG34 talk.

JBaum, thank you.

As a newbie to the MG42 world, what books would you recommend froom your link?
Don't want a depot rebuild book, but one for general maintenance, basic parts disassembly, etc, similar to current owners manuals.

Thanks,
David

The single best MG42 manual I have would be HDv 241. Each has some details not covered in the other manuals, but for an operator manual, HDv 241 is tops. It covers all the basics that the shooter needs to know.

I have two copies of HDv 241, one to read in bed, the other to get filthy while working on projects. I highly recommend that volume.

Have wanted an MG34 for years.
Finally found one, slightly used, good shape, good price.

The previous owner said he was selling because he never really spent time shooting it.
I have a feeling he was tired of tinkering with it.

I put 40 rounds through it on my first outing.
I did have some feeding troubles but it was fun none the less.

Hey all, been lurking on and off here for years in my dreams of one day owning an MG42. I live in the Northwest, army 15 years. A bit of this and a bit of that.

I FINALLY pulled the trigger on a beautiful CRA 1944 complete gun- save the MG2 topcover, barrel and tray (and bipod). I began scouring the net for information. Arming myself in what I anticipated to be a difficult build.... came back here- site was down! Very sad.

Now its back up and it is a wealth of knowledge! Really wish the photos were up, but looks like you guys have done well here to even get her back up and running, so thank you!

When my project is done, I will post photos. Just a bit more to go. Need a matching trunnion/cam section. Maybe hit a couple of the welds on the inside a bit more, clean her up, rivet the rails and small parts and fit the completed BRP grip with AR15 FCG (modified original grip). Most of the hard stuff is done though, and the receiver and shroud at straight as an arrow!

Really excited to finally have my own MG42. I have loved this weapon for as long as I can remember. Thanks for getting the site back up and running.

Getting the pictures back, or at least most of them, is still a goal, but the odds are getting lower as time goes on. I'm glad to have back what we have, but getting it all back is not for sure.

Scott-

23 Years Old

Russellville, AR

I got into MG42 and MG34 parts, kits, semi auto builds etc. about a year ago. I have met some of the nicest guys I know from collecting these parts and kits and have come to love this small niche.

new guy here. I purchased a tnw mg34 about 8 months ago its in 308 caliber. I have a nos chrome lined barerel, and a two piece blank fire barrel. my feed tray is one that was modified many years ago for the 308 round for nato use. my 34 runs like a clock. I take my grandson to a lot of ww2 reenactments, we mostly do French or Russian partisan, along with brit airborne.. I grew up with a father, grand fathers etc that were all ww2 vets. my dad loved the guns ,so we had several types of bring backs. mp40 and others. yeah im an old guy, lol. ive been running the black plastic blanks in drums. they feed very well, and this makes the reenactments fun. im retired , I have a shop that I restore military vehicles and other equipment. I also build gas guns from cut up parts kits.... staying busy keeps me young. my next project may be an mg42 from a parts kit.

Another new guy. I've built a ton of AKs, rewelded 2 Yugo receivers, finished a Sten. Now I need an MG42 to go with the militaria collection and to shoot at the range. Living in SoCal, married, 4 kids. I'm just getting started in this whole process, so please bear with me.
