MG42 Recuperator Armorers tool

Post by RetiredBuilder » Mon Apr 06, 2020 5:07 pm

I have a few recuperators I am looking to disassemble and inspect and was wondering what tools/process you all are using to do this. I have the plans in the MG42 amrorers manual john sells for the tool described in there and will just go with that unless someone has discovered something easier.

Thanks for your time.

Both the German MG42 and the Yugo M53 repair manuals I sell specify that tool for the recuperator. I'm thinking that if that's the best tool that the Germans and Yugoslavs could come up with in the last 75 years, something better would have already been discovered if it was possible.
It wasn't, so I'd go with that.

Well I had some free time the last few days so went ahead and used the plans in the armorers manual. Im a hobbyist welder/metal worker at best so it wont win any beauty points but it works and i have successfully got my recuperators apart for cleaning/inspection.

Thanks JBaum these manuals are a godsend.

It doesn't have to be pretty if it works. Good job. :wnana:
