Has anyone here tried the 7.62x39 conversion?

Post by Der Alder » Thu Apr 23, 2020 5:42 pm

I'm not doubting the maker of this conversion (I'm thinking of buying one) but I'd like to hear from outside sources who have tried one.

Is it reliable?

Does it run on cheap Wolf steel cased x39?
Seems like a great alternative if so.

Is it adjustable so far as gas depending on ammo?

Is it drop in so far as the parts you get?

This would be for a semi auto conversion BTW...is that an issue with the added drag from the semi hammer and shorter recoil spring?

Like I said I'm interested in buying one, but want to research it first.

Thanks

Kits are pretty well 98% reliable after you tune your top cover. Yes, it runs wolf or Tula or whatever x39 you want to feed it.
Our original V1 boosters were adjustable for cyclic rate from about 9-1200 rpm. After selling 100+ units we found most of the clients were running them closer to the 900-1000 rpm range so we went with a fixed V2 booster. It’s has an RPM of about 900-1000 and everyone has been happy with them. Out of all the units I have sold, 1 semi auto gun was picky and we had to give it adjustable plugs to super fine tune it. Like I said though, that was 1 gun and we worked through it with the client.

The kits are drop in, just like changing calibers from 8mm to 308. Swap your booster (some guns run better if you swap to a 308 barrel bearing), barrel, top cover, and feed tray. The only adjustment you need to do it with your top cover and instructions for the 30sec tuning come in my instruction manual.

You have the choice of sending us your bolt head to headspace your bolt to the new barrels or we can provide a new bolt head dedicated to your X39 kit.

An option we offer is to send us your gun and we will tune the kit for you, free of charge minus return shipping. We have had 2-4 guys take us up on this out all the units we have sold.

The only kit I am aware of that did not work was a WL gun and the barrel would not physically insert in the gun. It was too long by like 1/8”, but the kit ran fun in our house MG42. So the kit worked but his gun had some QC issues with length and such. This client opted to fit his gun so the kit worked. That was 2 years ago and as far as I know he worked it out.

The kits work great in semi auto or full auto guns without having to do anything special, save that minor top cover adjustment and yours may or may not need it.

Feel free to ask me any other questions.

Yes, It works great! I love it.

Just make sure that you use tight belts for those X39 rounds.

You are welcome, I love it, to the point that I won’t be shooting 8mm or 308 anymore. I am shooting the cheap Wolf Ammo. I think that the kit has already paid for it self.

IMO, 7.62 by 39 is much more pleasant to shoot and does not beat up the gun as much.

Thanks again for a great product and the customer service.

When I had dumb questions and I lost my manual, you were quick to reply and send a new one at no cost.

Pat

PS, I am Not sure of my ROF, I am running it with no screws in the booster. It sounds the same as 8mm? But, I have not measured it.

I read that the new version has a different ROF?

I bet you know someone with a cell phone. Most have a stopwatch function built into the alarm. Have someone measure the time for 50 or 100 rounds and do the math. Then we'll all know how fast it is :)

V2 ROF is fixed at 9-1000 rpm depending on the gun and drag etc.
V1 rate is adjustable with the booster, was found the adjustment wasn’t needed so we changed the design.
