Re: update part 2

I served in Augsburg in the 60's. Got to meet Willi Messerschmitt one Saturday when we went to the Hassenbrau brewery to pick up beer in 55 liter wooden kegs for a Bn. party. He was on the loading dock when we arrived and I was introduced by one of our sergeants who was married to a local girl whose...

Re: Buildable receivers

Last time I looked through APEX they were listing a set of receiver parts that from the picture looks like it might have the part you need. The price wasn't bad, $75.00.

Re: Any blueprints out there for making a MG34 transit chest?

It has the proyuguese markings, but it is a nice picture,if you are capable of building the box,you should be capable of using this picture and your 34 to make a duplicate. ---bil I've been collecting photos of the Portugese boxes with exactly the same idea. This photo is a welcome addition. Now it ...

Re: Removing Yugo green from Tripod

if it is a german lafette where would it be marked? It looks like it had a plate riveted on top (not range plate)below where the buttstock is.The plate is no longer there though. I picked up one at the Creek that has the rivet holes in the same place. The paint where the plate was removed is more l...

I'll measure the width tomorrow. Sorry I forgot that you asked for that as well. Have no way of measuring the thickness as they are installed in the barrel shroud.

Re: Any blueprints out there for making a MG34 transit chest?

There are photos on BRP's site of such a case. Thought I'd work from nosegunner's design on www.browningmgs.com of a 1919a4 case and adapt the dimensions to the MG34. Shouldn't be too hard. Haven't got around to it yet.

Re: BOOKS and more BOOKS

I just got one of JBaum's mg34 books last week, the Butz volume. It is full of great detailed info. Also got D124/2 on the M.G. Lafette 34. Also well done.

Picked up an MG34 kit with two barrels, matching front and cover, nice wood butt with only two minor blemishes, seems to have all the small pins, etc. for $550.

Re: Any MG42 Transit case plans?

You might check out www.browningmgs.com. He has a howto on a 1919a4 transit case that could easily be adapted to an mg42. Just measure the length of your gun and adjust accordingly. Think I'd take off the buttstock to do it.

Re: M13 Links in M53 with .308 Conversion

I had the opportunity to shoot an MG42 with only the barrel changed out to 7.62 and using disintegrating links. That one worked fine. No stoppages in several hundred rounds.
