Re: Need belt for MG08/15
Harry - IMA has the aluminum belts that work fine for 8mm in the 08/15. They're not perfect but you can buy a few and pull the old links and replace them - that's what I did.

Re: Vickers feedblock on an MG08????
A few more pic's. The last time I made it to the Creek I found a ZF12 for the 08 which needed some work - functions perfect now. I also made up adapters so I can use it on a Vickers tripod without modification.

Re: Vickers feedblock on an MG08????
I had forgotten to update this post and reminded by a member to do so. For clarity this semi 08 was built from parts and was never a fully functioning gun. DWM - bottom plate, left side plate, water jacket, top cover, grip assembly, recoil plates, numerous small parts & pins Chinese Maxim - water ja...

Re: MG08/15
Fishpaw - send me your email - I have drawings of the semi plate I made up along with all of the semi auto mod's. Unfortunately - in the state I'm in - a semi 08/15 would be illegal to own so I couldn't send it in for approval anyway. Hopefully someone in a gun friendly state can use this and actual...

Re: No dice.. Semi Auto MG42 to light primer strikes to fire
I was having the same problems with mine. Check the firing pin protrusion. I had some 8mm that the primer seated very deep into the pocket - creating light firing pin strikes. Check to see that the rear of the bolt is clearing the hammer COMPLETELY. My bolt was barely touching the rear of the hammer...

Re: WTB: MG42 barrels in 8mm
That's what I was afraid of - I've been looking for a 42 barrel myself for a while. It is looking like the best option is to buy an extension and a new barrel from Apex.

Re: Semi MG08
Harry - yes - that's a great help! I had forgotten my parents had his sword, drum and cap as well. I have studied the hat and sword and there is nothing marked as far as regiments or numbers. An interesting note - you mentioned the spelling may be different - it was. Our family records show his name...

Fired pretty well at Newville! Didn't take a round count but was very content (and broke) after the weekend.

Re: Semi MG08
I went with Lonnies parts but had to do some modification on the trigger bar - the 1910 and 08 are a bit different in that area. Prussia - is there any way I can get some info on my great grandfather from overseas? I don't know much about him or his unit and have always wanted to research it. We als...

Semi MG08
MG34nz's restoration of the chrome MG08 was truly inspiring as I've been working on a semi auto 08 for a while. I bought the parts almost piece by piece so it's not matching but it is mostly late war DWM. I lucked into a few choice items on the net and found a decent ZF12 sight at the Creek last Oct...

Re: Semi MG34 feed issues
I think I found part - if not all - of the problem. The barrel was binding in the shroud which would have caused a number of problems. I installed another barrel and it dry functions fine - just have to test fire it. I will check the ejector area as well. Thanks gents.

Semi MG34 feed issues
I built a reweld MG34 using the TNW parts and had a bit of an issue at the range. When it strips the live round out of the belt it forces the bullet too far down and it occasionally gets stuck on the face of the barrel below the chamber. Also when it's empty the bolt slides effortlessly back and for...

This is an inspiration!!! Thank you for sharing your work and you did a great job on the 08! I have a few more parts to locate for my own 08 before I can begin making the semi auto modifications - can't wait!
