Re: 1910 Maxim Sokolov Mount Part Required
Hi Frank Thanks for the reply I think you and I are referring to different bolts, the one Im talking about is one of two bolts that hold the draw bar of the Sokolov mount to the side rails of the Sokolov mount at the pivot point where the draw bar can fold either under the main body out fold outward...

1910 Maxim Sokolov Mount Part Required
Im in need of one of the bolts which holds the draw bar/trail of the Sokolov mount to the side rails of the base.
One of my bolts went missing in transit. Anyone scrapped a mount??

Andrew

Re: rather early MG08?
No I hadn't forgotten about the "a" I just didn't realize that prefixed numbers started with the second 10.000 guns rather than from the first gun produced. I have not had any dealings with Spandau guns so have not studied the numbering system in depth. Thanks for your input Matt, much appreciated.T...

Re: MG08 water jacket original green paint
This subject has been discussed quite regularly and their has been no definitive answer to date. From what I have read and seen I have concluded the following. It appears that at least some guns (if not All)left the factory with a blued finish Paint "Field Grey" was mixed and applied in the field as...

Re: Removing backplate on 08
Its a pic of the back plate bottom pin protruding from the side of the receiver, I downloaded and edited so I could see what it was.jbaum wrote:All I see is a half black picture with a white square. Surely you can get a picture with something visible.

Re: Removing backplate on 08
Not a lot of options if its stuck, try a gentle tap using a drift that is close to the size of the pin, worked for me.

Re: MG 08 FROM BATTLEFIELD
Looking at the rivet holes Mark I would suggest the barrel box has been broken off or removed, the muzzle retaining bit is still there at the top end of the sled base.

Re: 500 round MG08 Ammo Can/oil box?
Thank you for the pictures David, it is great to see the oil chest in a period photograph. The Oil cans are lovely also, seeing them in the chest is definitely inspiration to try and find some for my own oil chest.
