actually CLR sold at the home depot and steel wool with goggles and gloves is how I strip all my receivers .I use different dilutes for different strengths and aggressions.I have done exactly like you ask so yes it can be done.You can not dilute and it will strip it off to the white metal or you can...

Those grip slots are found on Yugo grips,German both wwii and postwar dont have it though it is refrenced about in a old german manual issued at the end of the war then when the mg3 came out it was back the to original style..

Just make sure your welds have good penetration And no pores .Pores are no good and the weld needs cut and reweld.I have done several with shells and rewelding torch cut.I even made inrernal jigs out orf 1/4" copper plate as well as an external one.If you need any help /tips email me at wadevilman@g...

The sulphur was added in the field as the oil was used as lube on everything,lafette,guns,tools,tripods,but for the heat of the mg42 they added sulphur as it reacts with heat making a harder frictionless surface as the heat causes the sulphur to react by bonding molecules.Smart Krauts them Germans

John has the very best manuals,I have several,If you have a shooting platform like a Lafette,buy the apropriate manual,he has a couple,If your going to run 7.62 ammo and disentegrating links Get his Manual for the MG3,it has everything your asking about it just dont cover the Semi Bolt and gripstick...

A lot of us collectors build as the thrill of the hunt for parts and sitting back after building somting gibe us a sense of accomplishment buying one cannot do,besides Wiselite i think is the only company thats really produced besides brp.Brp is worth the extra money but reweld/self built trumps all...
