I ordered it from iron creations llc. Came with a barrel bearing which is normal. My concern is the total area of the scallops is much less than the mg53 booster. Would this increase back pressure beyond safe limits? Also if you look inside theres a ring around the bottom that provides a close fit tot he barrel bearing.
Booster function question. Correct me if im wrong but its only the front orifice and not the scallops or cutouts on the bottom of a recoil booster cone that effect on the overall recoil because the impulse of the gasses have already started pushing back the barrel by the time the barrel bearing moves far enough back to expel the gasses through the exhause ports..right?
First thing is that an MG53 is a .50 cal Colt Browning machinegun.....Are you talking about an M53 Yugoslavian version of the MG42?
Your booster cone looks like one I made some years ago. The cutouts look a little bigger than the normal ones on an MG42 so despite the smaller number of holes it may have enough area to be equivalent. Lastly even if its less area it won't affect things too much. As long as the hole isn't too small for what you're doing it should work fine. If you are using it on a semi auto then you won't need to worry at all.
Hope that helps and doesn't sound too much like a flame. Its not intended that way.
No problem Frank thats really the info I was looking for. Its an SA but I was a little worried about the reduced "ports/scallops" at the bottom of the booster.
Ask Jeff at Iron creations if he made it or if it came from a parts kit. If he made it, I'm sure that it would work just fine. I would use it in mine my mg42 if Jeff did make it.
