Mg42 flash hider mod question

I have a question for the board.
Living in California I need to mod the semi mg42 going to have built to be legal here. Since I want to use belts I bought a while ago the state considers iy a detectable mag. So I can't have a flashhider or pistol grip. the pistol grip is taken with a monsters grip type of non permenite change .
My question is can I cut the majority of the cone off and have it still function kinda like how the 1919a4 booster works?

While I have not used a flash hider with the cone cut off I sold one on gunbroker that was also talked about here on this site and most folks feel that it will work just fine without the cone.
As far as the gripstick etc can't help you out. I'm sure that someone else will be along and post more info.
Also think about calling Brian at brp and talk with him as I'm sure he has had that talk before.

the grip is no problem since have used that solution before on many guns so as to be able to not have to use a fixed mag, or belt in this case... just like i did with my rpd.


luckily the "fixes " aren't Permanent.
